Soul Care Coaching, LLC provides coaching for individuals and teams helping them discover their purpose, passions, and goals.

At Neighbor Power Indy they will lead a workshop called "Building Meaningful Relationships ".

Soul Care Coach, Brittany Wayman, discussed what attendees can expect at their Neighbor Power Indy workshop on Saturday, July 25th.

"I'm most excited to create space for people to reflect on the quality of their relationships and reconnect with what truly fosters meaningful connection. I look forward to sharing simple, practical tools that help people feel more seen, heard, and valued in both their personal, professional and community relationships.

Living Water Outreach Ministry, participants in INRC's 2025 Indianapolis Community Building Institute hosted a neighborhood clean-up and community engagement day!

Their used their grant funds to beautify the appearance of the East 46th Street and Fall Creek corridor to build community pride and connection.

Volunteers engaged in hands-on service by removing trash and debris, hedge trimming, planting flowers, and cleaning up car wreck debris from the Fall Creek and 46th Street median.

Several participants shared that this was their first time serving in the community and expressed a strong sense of fulfillment in giving back to their neighborhood where the church is located.

Way to go neighbors! 👏💜

equips local mission-driven nonprofits with funding strategies, systems, and support.

At Neighbor Power Indy they will lead a workshop called:

"Building Blocks: Grant Writing for Stronger Neighborhoods"

Their Chief Problem Solver, Beth Miller explained what she is most excited to share at the conference on July 25th and what she hopes attendees will take away from their session.

"I am most excited to share simple, practical ways neighbors and grassroots leaders can organize their work, avoid burnout, and build something sustainable—even while balancing this work with everything else in their lives.

I hope this session helps community members move from feeling overwhelmed to feeling equipped—with clear next steps to strengthen their efforts, tell their story, and attract support. My goal is that participants leave not just inspired, but with tools they can immediately use to grow their impact in their neighborhoods."

Last week, Emerson Heights gathered to celebrate “Find It — Emerson Heights,” a new traffic signal box mural at the corner of Michigan and Linwood.

The art was designed by resident Heather Keeney, whose submission won a neighborhood contest to choose the design. While not its original intention, the piece has become a tribute to Heather’s beloved dog Chloe, who passed away unexpectedly in January.

The project is part of a city program that brings color and connection to Marion County street corners. Mariam Alam of the Emerson Heights Community Organization (EHCO) was instrumental in making it happen, shepherding the project through the process twice after delays from the Michigan Street conversion construction.

Funding came through an ICBI grant via INRC - Indianapolis Neighborhood Resource Center, facilitated by Sharon Logan, with Kathy Vodde-Caparo handling the wrap and finishing designs to fit the box.

In the works since 2023, the art project was absolutely worth the wait.

We launched our Legacy Allies program last week with over 20 participating neighbors!

During their orientation the three neighborhood cohorts — Martindale-Brightwood, Northwest Landing, and Norwood connected and jumped into the first workshop, Asset-Based Community Development and Asset Mapping.

We discussed how to spot the strengths in our neighborhoods that are often overlooked and how the people are the most important part of any community!

In the two-year program, they will attend more hands-on neighborhood organizing workshops and work towards implementing a neighborhood project. Later this year each neighbor will work with a mentor to share knowledge and reflect on leadership growth.

We look forward to sharing their progress and work to mobilize positive change in their neighborhoods! 💜🏘️

Legacy Allies is a cross-generational leadership development program made possible through the Indianapolis African American Quality of Life Initiative (IAAQLI), a citywide effort to advance equity and investment in Black communities.
