It's the final day of September and Hunger Action Month. This was the ultimate game of catch even thought it was one throw. I threw out the first pitch at Victory Field to Indianapolis Indians pitcher Derek Diamond. It was a throw I'll always remember!

Baseball brings people together! During a catch in Songpa, Seoul, South Korea, we made a friend, named Gung. We talked baseball as he watched us play catch. He told us he's a Dodgers fan and was glad to see a father and sons playing catch!

A game of catch at the historic Jackie Robinson Ballpark in Daytona Beach, FL with my boys and Jim Jaworski, the President & General Manager of the Daytona Tortugas Professional Baseball team affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds. The ballpark opened in 1914 and is the oldest Minor League Baseball in the nation. It also became the place where Jackie played in the first integrated ballgame with the Montreal Royals.

A game of catch by a castle? This game of catch was in Osaka Castle Park in Japan. The castle is one of Japan's most famous landmarks and was built in the 16th Century. We also saw the Oryx Buffaloes of Osaka and the Hanshin Tigers (English) play baseball!

Such a great game of catch at Buck O'Neil Tribute Park near the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum in Kansas City with catch expert Ethan Bryan. The murals at the park are on the Paseo YMCA where Andrew "Rube" Foster organized the Negro National League in 1920.

Great game of catch in Seoul Forest in Seoul, Korea with one of my son's teammates and family. They were visiting family, so we met up for dinner and a game of catch! (Also, that's a LG Twins Baseball Club of Seoul jersey, not that team in Minnesota!)

The first international game of catch was in Songpa, Seoul, Korea in the shadow of the tallest tower in Korea, the Lotte World Tower. It was a great game of catch next to a lake, walkway and skyscrapers. Several walkers watched our game of catch including one great conversation with a local Korean man who thought it was great see a father and sons play catch.

Today is the first day of September and the first day of Hunger Action Month. Since I have been on clergy renewal leave, 30 Days of Catch won't be happening this month, but you can still give to the cause! My friend David Tinnes captures the power of catch so well in his book. He wrote, “Throughout my catch journey, I have experienced on a daily basis, the wondrous value of meeting with people, dedicating time to be present and to hear whatever it is they want to share. It is in that shared time that something sacred occurs. We have the freedom to open up, to be vulnerable, and to truly be heard and acknowledged. Every game of catch, regardless of whether or not we had previously played catch before, was unique because it was happening right then and right there. It was in each game of catch that a mutual impact on one another was experienced.”
