Access to mental health care is not equal for all young people.

Barriers like cost, transportation, stigma, and availability can prevent youth from getting the help they need.

Youth voices highlight these gaps and point toward solutions that are more accessible, equitable, and responsive.

💬 What barriers to care do you see in your community?

👀 Take Action Tuesday

1 in 5 young people experience a mental health challenge each year, but many go unnoticed, unsupported, or misunderstood.

Mental health struggles in youth don’t always look the way we expect. They can show up as irritability instead of sadness, withdrawal instead of quietness, or changes in sleep, appetite, or school performance.

The earlier we notice, the earlier we can support.

Take Action Today:
Spend a few minutes learning the signs of common mental health challenges like anxiety and depression in young people. Look for patterns, not just one bad day.

Some signs to pay attention to:
• Sudden mood changes or increased irritability
• Withdrawing from friends, family, or activities
• Changes in sleep or eating habits
• Difficulty concentrating or drop in school performance
• Expressions of hopelessness or feeling overwhelmed

You don’t have to be an expert to make a difference - just someone who notices, listens, and cares.

Memorial Day is a time to remember those who lost their lives in military service.

For young people, it can also be a moment to learn about loss, service, and the impact of sacrifice on families and communities.

Some youth, especially those connected to military families, may carry personal experiences of grief or remembrance. Creating space for conversation can help them feel seen and supported.

Take a moment today to:
• Talk with a young person about what this day means
• Acknowledge the impact of loss on families and communities
• Encourage reflection in a way that feels appropriate for their age

Even simple conversations can help young people better understand the world around them and their place in it.
