Why Does Public Education Matter?

Estimates suggest that around 90% of children were not enrolled in any formal schooling, contributing to high illiteracy rates, before the establishment of public schools in the 1830s.

: Historical Context: Public education systems were introduced to address widespread illiteracy and provide structured education.

: Impact of Public Schools: The establishment of public schools significantly increased enrollment and literacy rates, transforming education in America.

Congratulations to the Class of 2026!

Did You Know?

High school graduation rates are a good indication of future quality of life for the American population. Graduation from high school can often determine how much money individuals may earn and how much success they may achieve in their future careers. Graduation rates can also outline how well an education system has improved over time.

We hope to see you tonight!

Join us on April 15 as we host a NetSmartz Internet Safety Class designed for teens (ages 13+) and their parents or caregivers. This interactive session will provide valuable tools to help families navigate the digital world safely and confidently.

Date: April 15, 2026
Time: 7:00–8:00 PM
Location: North Central High School – Door 24, Room E128
Address: 1801 E. 86th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46240

During this session, families will learn about:
- Healthy online relationships and boundaries
- Warning signs of grooming
- The growing crime of sextortion
- How to report concerns and find support

Parking and Entry Instructions:
The best entrance is from 86th Street at the traffic light. After turning onto the campus road, turn left and then make an immediate right into the parking lot corridor on the west side of the building. Enter through Door #24, marked with “Paul Logan” signage.

Joining our meetings is a great way to meet other parents and caregivers in the township and to hear directly from our school board and admin at each meeting. We have a welcoming atmosphere, and you do not have to attend every meeting to get something out of this group - and if you need to come late, or leave early, that is no problem. And, kids are welcome, too!
