• To decrease the crime rate
• To decrease drug and alcohol use
• To increase the graduation rate
• To increase employment opportunities
• To assist program participants with college preparation by assisting with education improvement and providing information on how to apply to college
• To increase the amount of time program participants spend giving back to their respective communities

Shout-out to Mrs. Brittany Horne for leading an amazing virtual session with our Royal MENtality Scholars from Fort Wayne and Indianapolis!

Senior year can bring a LOT—college applications, deadlines, scholarships, tests, decisions, and figuring out what comes next.

Our Scholars had the opportunity to talk openly about what they’re excited about, their challenges, and the support systems they have along the way.

During the session, Scholars learned how to:
- Create a solid postsecondary plan
- Explore college, career, and training options
- Understand financing and scholarship opportunities
- Keep track of important deadlines
- Identify recommenders and supporters
- Use their phones to stay organized with reminders
- Build a master involvement list and essay
- Utilize resources like Common App
- Explore career pathways using the My Next Move Worksheet

Most importantly, our Scholars were reminded that they don't have to figure it all out alone!

Thank you, Mrs. Horne, for helping our young men turn their Senior Scaries into a PLAN!

A special thank you to DeForest Buckner and the Indianapolis Colts Community Impact Team for providing tickets for our Bloom Project families to attend the Indianapolis Colts game yesterday!

Our families had an AMAZING experience, including the opportunity to tour the field and get an up-close look at the game-day experience!

While we didn’t get the WIN yesterday, our families definitely walked away with great memories, smiles, and an experience they won’t forget!

My journey with Bloom Project started as part of the team that helped launch the Fort Wayne site. I started as the Parent Liaison, then moved on to be the Site Operations Director, and now Board President.

Through the years I have seen the difference our organization has made in the lives of young men in our community, including that of my own son. The quiet, shy ones become confident, the confident ones learn the difference between confidence and arrogance. Young men that did not have a direction when they first came to us had a plan by the time they graduated high school. And if they didn’t, we walked with them while they figured it out.

Bloom Project staff, mentors, volunteers and board members work hard to ensure that we can continue to make these differences for our young kings. The world and our community have changed so much since the launch of the Fort Wayne site, some good and some bad. We try to be the light for the young kings and their families, but we cannot do it without the continued support of our community.

Bloom Project is celebrating 12 years of making a difference. Please help us celebrate by donating $12, $120 or $1,200. Your contributions help us continue to provide programming to the young kings in our community.
