NABTU 2026 LABOR DAY STATEMENT

Today, North America’s Building Trades Unions (NABTU) President Sean McGarvey issued the following statement in recognition of Labor Day:

“This Labor Day, we honor the millions of working people whose skill, sacrifice, and determination have built the communities and economy upon which we all depend.

"The men and women of the Building Trades do far more than construct the roads, bridges, hospitals, energy systems, and manufacturing facilities that support and power North America's economy. We build careers, strengthen communities, expand economic opportunity, and create family-sustaining pathways for the next generation of workers.

“Today, we celebrate the progress all working people have achieved through hard work, perseverance and solidarity. We recognize the dignity of labor and the immeasurable positive contributions workers make to our communities, nations and society. NABTU is proud to stand with the men and women of the Building Trades and all working people across North America. Today and every day, we will keep building."

The 98th Constitutional Convention is officially in the books!

Delegates from across the state gathered this week to discuss the issues and opportunities facing Indiana’s Building Trades, and continue the education and conversations that help move our union movement forward.

We were proud to hold this year’s convention at the Four Winds South Bend Resort & Casino — a 100% union-built facility.

Thank you to all of our delegates, speakers, guests, and everyone who helped make the 98th Constitutional Convention a success.

Indiana’s Building Trades Unions proudly jointly administer 62 training centers across the state, delivering world-class instruction and hands-on experience to over 13,000 Hoosiers. Collectively, over 65% of all registered apprentices in Indiana are trained in one of our Union training facilities.

These US-DOL registered apprenticeship training programs aren’t just about jobs — they’re about careers that support families, strengthen communities, and build the infrastructure that keeps our state moving forward.
