"Ms. Heather Squires is an exceptional educator who consistently maximizes every moment for instruction, ensuring her students are always engaged in meaningful learning. Whether in the classroom, hallway, or even transitioning to recess, she uses every opportunity to ask questions, spark curiosity, and reinforce a love of learning. Her dedication to student growth is evident in her ability to effectively teach both 1st and 2nd grade standards, thoughtfully differentiating instruction to meet each child’s needs while maintaining high expectations.
Beyond her classroom, Ms. Squires is a true team player and leader. She supports not only her own students but also scholars across the grade level through WIN and Challenge groups. She actively contributes to the school community by leading initiatives, volunteering for events such as Literacy and Wellness Nights, serving on committees, and taking on responsibilities that strengthen the overall school environment.
Ms. Squires creates a positive, welcoming classroom where students feel valued, respected, and encouraged to take risks in their learning. She builds strong relationships with both students and families, maintaining consistent communication and encouraging parent involvement. Her positivity, professionalism, and commitment to excellence extend throughout the building, making her a role model for both staff and scholars.
For her dedication, leadership, and unwavering commitment to student success, Ms. Squires is truly deserving of Teacher of the Year."
