Celebrating our 2026 Classified Staff of the Year

Congratulations to Monica Myers, Guion Creek Elementary School's 2026 Classified Staff of the Year!

Principal Gardner shared:
"Monica is an exceptional instructional assistant whose impact is felt across our entire building. She consistently goes above and beyond in her support of both scholars and staff. Monica has demonstrated outstanding commitment to student support, often stepping in to de-escalate challenging situations with a calm and steady presence. Her quiet, composed demeanor has a powerful effect—she brings a sense of stability that truly helps move mountains for our most vulnerable learners.

In the classroom, Monica leads small-group interventions, adapts complex curriculum to meet the needs of diverse learners, and maintains a learning environment that reflects the highest standards. She is patient, attentive, and highly intuitive, often anticipating when students may struggle and adjusting her approach to ensure they feel supported and successful. Her ability to build strong relationships with students allows her to gently guide even the most exceptional learners toward growth.

Monica is also a strong communicator and collaborator. She keeps teachers informed on student progress and is always willing to step in and help wherever needed. Whether working one-on-one with students, supporting small groups, or assisting staff, she plays a critical role in fostering a positive, safe, and productive learning environment here at Guion Creek.

Her dedication, flexibility, and unwavering commitment to students make her an invaluable member of the Guion Creek team and a truly deserving candidate for Classified Staff of the Year!"

🧩✨ Grant Spotlight: Pieces Fit Together ✨🧩

At Guion Creek Elementary, something special is coming together—piece by piece! Thanks to a funded PTEF grant, teacher Robin Smith has introduced a dedicated puzzle table in the library, giving students a space to collaborate, focus, and build something meaningful over time.

No more packing puzzles away at the end of the day—students can now return daily to continue their progress, watching each section come to life. Right now, they’re taking on an exciting 500-piece challenge, and the anticipation grows with every new piece placed!

This project is more than just puzzles—it’s about patience, teamwork, and the joy of seeing progress unfold.

A big thank you to our donors for supporting innovative ideas like this and creating opportunities that make a lasting impact in our schools.
