How Redistricting Affects Everyone

Redistricting happens every ten years to reflect population changes. When done responsibly, it ensures fair and equal representation for all residents.

However, when districts are drawn in ways that split up communities or create “safe seats,” it can weaken the overall voice of the public. If officials feel guaranteed to win simply because of how a district is shaped, they may not feel as accountable or responsive to the people who live there.

Fair maps are important for everyone — not just one group or party — because they help ensure every person’s vote has similar weight and that elected leaders truly represent the communities they serve.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our former ISALC Executive Vice President/Director of Education, Ken Hill. Ken was passionate about his duties with the state association and his involvement with the many political events around the state.
Ken also had a hand in creating the first steward bootcamps held at the FFA retreat facility, deep in the woods of Trafalgar, Indiana.
