e2 elders Church Leadership / Equipping Elders to Lead
founded 2008, incorporated as 501(c)(3) 2012 Since that time, e2 has grown rapidly in its ministry.

e2: effective elders is a ministry born in 2008 in response to the increasing need for equipping elders for leadership in the local congregation. It started with four books on elder equipping, growing to a dozen titles and supplemented with hours of video curriculum. Since 2010 e2: effective elders has led and participated in dozens of conferences and seminars, coaching over 9,600 elders and church leaders, as well as partnering with dozens of congregations in ongoing coaching relationships.

A Mission Team Strategy

Years ago, I heard a great preacher named Roy Weece make a statement about missions that has stayed with me. He said, “When it comes to missions, the problem is not supply, and the problem is not demand, the problem is distribution.”

What an insightful observation. The problem is not supply: the Gospel is more than enough for everyone. The problem is not demand: the need for salvation, rescue and transformation is everywhere. The problem is distribution: Jesus said that “workers are few” (Matt. 9:37 and Luke 10:2). How do we spread God's inexhaustible good news to all the earth?

We can begin with a few ways a Mission Team might help define, increase and measure individual and congregational commitment to missions. A team of people can help a congregation build a culture of missions throughout the church, while many people within the church do things in their power to further all of that mission work.

This can be as simple as encouraging their people to engage in one or more of five mission commitments.

Today is “Christina Bledsoe Day” in the e2 office! We celebrate Christina for her work as our marketing director as she has been a master storyteller. Christina is not “leaving” us so much as she is “going” to something of far greater significance. She is answering the call of “grandma,” a much-enjoyed role in this season of life. As well, Christina has become a valued volunteer with isaiah117house here in Indianapolis. We are excited for Christina because we know the Lord has gifted her to serve Him in extraordinary ways!

What a great day we had with leaders of churches from Ohio, Illinois and Indiana! This is a new pilot program in partnership with The Center for Church Leadership (www.ccl.network) CCL is providing a year of free leadership training to individuals on 1) elder governance, 2) strategic planning and 3) church finances. This pilot program involves three individual days of training at The Creek followed by nine sessions of virtual coaching over zoom. Today was a tremendous beginning to this new venture. Thanks, CCL, for your outrageous generosity to and care for the local church!

Thanks be to God! What a great trip to Poland! We were privileged to be a part of a great conference sponsored by PROEM. Our friend from 21 years ago, Maui Dwulat, is the founder and executive director of PROEM. Over 150 leaders from across Poland met at Zakosciele for two intense days of equipping and encouragement. And our thanks to Zaba Crozier for her exceptional translation skills! Dr. Basia presented us with SIX e2 publications now translated into Polish and available throughout the country! We then took part in the 20th anniversary of the Tomy Church, which has grown into hundreds of Christians meeting in three locations. Church was packed this morning. Several people answered the invitation and were baptized! The church now meets in PROEM’s school gymnasium because of their rapid growth. Even their school has grown from a small preschool to now being the largest Christian school in Poland with over 550 students through the 12th grade! We even had time to enjoy the beautiful campus of Zako Camp and a hike to the village church built in 1068, ten centuries ago. God is on the move through his people at PROEM. It is a privilege for e2 to be a ministry partner with Maui and his team!

Another great day this week in Ohio was spent with the leadership team of Southwest Church (Ohio)! Lead Pastor Roger Hendricks gathered the team together to create new vision, mission and core values as they travel through a season of transition. After founding the church 29 years ago, Roger is preparing SC for a handing off of the leadership baton to the next lead pastor in August 2027. Thanks for inviting e2 into a partnership to help in this season. It’s particularly exciting for us as Andrew Beal, a Timothy of The Creek, serves as the executive pastor of Southwest Church! It truly was an incredible day at SC!

What a great day! Jeff Faull and I had the privilege to equip and encourage 60 leaders of churches in central Ohio today. From nine different churches, these men and women gave up a coveted Saturday to enjoy conversation with one another on four key challenges for the local church: finding and keeping volunteers, making changes effectively, creating a culture of unity and improving team relationships. Our thanks to Worthington Christian Church for their tremendous hospitality and support for many years as a partner of e2. Our thanks to Mark Senseman of Servant Solutions for their generous support and sponsorship of our regional gatherings! Mark and the Servant Solutions team are incredible people. Thanks, everyone, for leading well for Jesus and His Church.
