Congratulations to Haliya Aminu, and Bolu Oyegbola , three DirectEmployers Institute interns honored at MCCOY's Excellence in Summer Service Awards on August 20 at the Indianapolis Zoo Dolphin Pavilion. Each received a $1,000 scholarship.

MCCOY selects just over 20 high school and college students from every Summer Youth Program Fund team in Indianapolis. Three of them came from DI. Want to be part of the next cohort? We are still hiring for our fall internship. DM us to learn more and apply.

What a wonderful surprise! We were excited to see one of our own Bolu Oyegbola featured in MCCOY's post promoting this year's Excellence in Summer Service Awards. Last year she was recognized as an outstanding intern, and today she serves as a valued member of the DirectEmployers Institute team. We love watching our young leaders grow and thrive.

Every year we celebrate youth on your team with the annual Excellence in Summer Service Awards! This year, we're holding the August 20 event at the Indianapolis Zoo Dolphin Pavilion.

MCCOY celebrates exceptional youth serving on SYPF teams by awarding $1000 to 20+ high school or college youth who work or volunteer in a Summer Youth Program. Submissions are due by NOON on July 26, so nominate someone today!

Parents wear many hats. They’re teachers, chauffeurs, counselors, coaches, encouragers, problem-solvers, and unwavering supporters. They celebrate every victory, help carry every disappointment, and continue showing up day after day with love and dedication.

Today, we want to extend a heartfelt thank you to every parent in our STEM YES! community.

A special thank you to the parents who volunteered their time to serve as guest speakers, sharing their careers, experiences, and expertise with more than 160 students during STEM YES! 2026. Your willingness to invest not only in your own children but in every student at camp made a lasting impact.

And to the parents who continue to register their children for our programs year after year—thank you for trusting DirectEmployers Institute to be part of your child’s journey. Your partnership allows us to continue preparing the next generation with the skills, confidence, and opportunities they need to thrive in the workforce and beyond.

We promised to share our adventures, didn’t we? 🚒👨‍🚒

One of our favorite stops during STEM YES! was our visit to the fire department, where our students got a firsthand look at what it takes to serve their community.

For a little while, we got to play firefighters—handling axes and other heavy equipment, learning about the tools of the trade, and even trying on turnout gear. Let’s just say… suiting up as quickly as firefighters do is much harder than it looks!

During our visit, an emergency call came in, and within moments the firefighters were geared up and out the door. Seeing their speed, teamwork, and professionalism in action gave us an even greater appreciation for the incredible work they do every single day. They were back within minutes, ready to continue sharing their knowledge with our students.

We also had the chance to tour their living quarters, and we were amazed by how organized, welcoming, and well-maintained everything was. Now we have just one request for our next visit… can we finally take a turn sliding down the fire pole? 😉

To all of the firefighters who put their lives on the line to keep our communities safe—thank you for your courage, sacrifice, and service. We are so grateful for all that you do. ❤️
