100 Voices of Hope at IU Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center

100 Voices of Hope at IU Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center Since 2008, 100 Voices of Hope has raised more than $2 million for breast cancer research. The goal is to find 100 people.

100 Voices of Hope is a grassroots effort to raise $100,000 every year to end metastatic breast cancer through research. Every research breakthrough begins with a hunch or out-of-the-box idea. Research funding, however, is available for only tried-and-true findings. Hunches desperately need start-up funds so that they don’t languish in the minds of scientists. That’s why Mary Beth began asking her

friends and family to commit to $1,000 each to become a voice for research. Now, 100 Voices of Hope has become a source of research funding and community inspiration for the 35 breast cancer researchers at the IU Simon Cancer Center. Research is hope, our avenue to a cure.

Friends, please read and help us remember Carrie Glasscock today. 🩷 Carrie and Mary Beth Gadus shared a unique bond that endures.

We are grateful that Carrie's mother, Lee, continues to support 100 Voices of Hope in such a personal, selfless way with her new book - "Taking Notes." Please consider buying a copy for yourself or a friend. All proceeds support 100 Voices and metastatic breast cancer research at IU! https://www.amazon.com/Taking-Notes-Mothers-Grief-Collection/dp/B0F8WQ41RC

Today, we honor the life and legacy of Dr. Carrie Ann Glasscock West. An Indiana University School of Medicine graduate, Carrie was a compassionate physician, a loyal friend, and a devoted wife and daughter. Before her passing in 2016, she was a passionate supporter of breast cancer research—including 100 Voices of Hope at IU Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center, a grassroots initiative that empowers donors to fund promising research “hunches” at the cancer center.

Carrie’s mother, Lee Glasscock, recently published a book of poetry, Taking Notes: A Mother’s Healing Journey Through Grief. In it, she shares raw, moving reflections on loss, love, and healing. Through her words, Lee invites readers to walk with her—from the depths of grief into the enduring light of love that never leaves us.

In a beautiful act of generosity, 100% of proceeds from Lee’s book will support 100 Voices of Hope, continuing Carrie’s legacy and fueling innovative breast cancer research. Since 2008, this program has funded 32 research hunches, which have led to more than $15 million in external grant funding.

The AT&T WNBA All-Star Game isn’t the only big event coming to Indianapolis this summer.

The All-Star Cure, happening July 12-13, unites the Komen Tissue Bank at the IU Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center and the WNBA All-Star 2025 Host Committee and powered by the Catherine Peachey Fund to highlight the vital role of healthy breast tissue in cancer research.

During the two-day event, up to 500 women will be able to donate healthy breast tissue. These samples help researchers uncover how breast cancer starts—and how to stop it.
