Another Hoosier winner! When I first became the Poet Laureate of Indiana, one of the first things I did after talking with the head of the NEA Dana Gioia, was to get Indiana into the Poetry Out Loud program. Congratulations to Jayda Dawn, the 2nd winner from Indiana. Hoosier students are making us proud with their performances in this highly competitive process. I couldn't be prouder of how they've responded. Poetry in Indiana has a bright future. Joyce Brinkman, Indiana Poet Laureate 2002-2008

What's the meaning of two Blue-footed Bo***es resting on the shore with the National Geographic Endeavour II anchored in the background, in the Galápagos Islands, Ecuador?
Unfortunately, it doesn't mean that you've won a trip to the Galápagos Islands, but it does mean that DePauw Professor and longtime Poetry On Brick Street enthusiast Dr. Joe Heithaus will be presenting a special program at this week's Poetry On Brick Street. He has just returned from taking a group of budding poets to the Islands and will share stunning photos and equally stunning poems at the event.
Don't forget our new policy that allows open mic readers to submit a short Natural Moment Poem for consideration as the Natural Moment Poem on our podcast "Off the Bricks." You don't have to have a Natural Moment Poem to read, but the program should give you some inspiration for one for next month.
Looking forward to seeing you this Thursday, April 2, at 7pm in the SullivanMunce Cultural Center, 255 West Hawthorne, Zionsville, IN.

If you've heard Bob Okaji read his poetry, you know you want to be at Poetry On Brick Street this Thursday, March 5th, in the art gallery of the SullivanMunce Cultural Center, 225 West Hathrone Street, Zionsville IN, at 7 pm. Bob will be back, reading from another of his amazing books. His reading will be followed by an open mic. Bring a poem of your own, not more than a page long, to read after Bob's reading. We look forward to seeing you there.
