🇺🇸 BIG NEWS FOR INDIANA VETERANS: Historic Property Tax Relief is Here! 🇺🇸

Indiana just made history — and if you're a veteran, a surviving spouse, or you love one, you need to read this.

Governor Braun signed House Enrolled Act 1210 into law, delivering the most significant property tax relief for Indiana's disabled veterans in a generation. Here's what that means in real dollars, for real veterans, right now:

✅ 100% Property Tax Deduction — Totally Disabled Veterans
If you're an honorably discharged veteran with a 100% service-connected disability rating who served at least 90 days, you now pay ZERO property taxes on your primary residence. That's $27 million every year staying in the hands of the veterans who sacrificed the most.

Indiana is now the 23rd state to offer this benefit — and here's what makes us truly unique: we are the ONLY state that offers it without strings attached. No income caps. No property size restrictions. No assessed value limits. Just a clean, full deduction for those who earned it.

✅ New $250 Annual Tax Credit — Veterans 62+ with 10–90% Disability
Are you 62 or older with at least a 10% service-connected disability? Good news — Indiana removed the assessed value cap that was previously blocking tens of thousands of veterans from this benefit. As a result, an estimated 52,500 additional veterans may now qualify, delivering $13.1 million in annual relief to our older generation of heroes.

✅ New $350 Annual Tax Credit — Wartime Veterans with 10–90% Disability
Did you serve during wartime? A new $350 annual property tax credit is now available for wartime disabled veterans with at least a 10% service-connected disability rating and an honorable discharge. This delivers $13.37 million annually — and for veterans transitioning from the old wartime deduction system, it means an estimated $5 million in additional benefit above what they were previously receiving.

✅ And the credits STACK.
That's right — if you qualify for more than one credit, you can receive multiple benefits. A wartime veteran over 62 with a service-connected disability, for example, could receive $600 in annual tax credits — on top of any other benefits they qualify for.

💛 Surviving Spouses — You're Not Forgotten
If your spouse was a veteran who met the eligibility requirements at the time of their passing, you may qualify for these same benefits. You've given enough. Indiana is working to make sure you're taken care of.

📋 How to Register:
1. Complete State Form 51186
2. File it with your County Auditor
3. Registration window: July 1, 2026 – December 30, 2026

🔢 The Bottom Line:
Indiana will deliver over $50 million annually in property tax relief to disabled veterans. Over the next decade, that's more than $500 million — half a billion dollars — back in veterans' pockets.

These aren't just numbers on a page. This is real money for real families who have already given so much to this country.

A big win for Indiana veterans. 🇺🇸
The “Big Four” Veteran Service Organizations — DAV, VFW, The American Legion, and the National Guard Association of Indiana — worked with state leaders to remove language from SB 173 that could have disrupted veterans’ access to prescription medications through TRICARE mail-order services.
This effort protects critical access to medications for many veterans, especially those who are homebound, disabled, or living in rural areas.
When we stand together, we protect those who served.
