The model isn't new: it's based on a system that's prepared Swiss youth and adults for careers since the 1970s. The coalition of Hoosier leaders building INCAP (iLab) has set a goal to train 50,000 Hoosiers by 2034.

Looking Back: BAGL’s Construction to Education Event

As we celebrate Careers in Construction Month, we’re highlighting the Builders Association of Greater Lafayette’s Construction to Education (C2E) event.

C2E brought students and construction professionals together to turn career exploration into real conversations. Students heard directly from those working in the industry, explored the variety of career paths available and learned what it takes to get started.

By connecting education with industry, events like C2E help students see that careers in construction extend far beyond the jobsite and offer opportunities for many different skills and interests.

Looking Back: Madison County Build Your Future Indiana

As we celebrate Careers in Construction Month, we’re looking back at a Build Your Future Indiana event hosted by the Madison County Builders Association.

The event gave students an opportunity to step outside the classroom and experience the construction industry firsthand. Students explored construction career opportunities, saw skilled trades in action, met industry professionals and learned more about the skills needed to build a successful career in the industry.

Experiences like these can make a lasting impact. It can be difficult for students to picture themselves in a career until they have the opportunity to see the work up close, ask questions and hear directly from the professionals doing it every day.

That’s why local Build Your Future Indiana events are so important. By bringing together home builders’ associations, schools, educators and industry professionals, these events introduce young people to career paths they may not have considered and give them a better understanding of the opportunities available in construction.

We’re proud to recognize the Madison County Builders Association for helping connect students with Indiana’s construction industry and inspiring the next generation of skilled professionals.

🔨 Women Build in Bloomington!

In celebration of Careers in Construction Month, IBA’s Carlie Hopper and Jenna Blackwell joined Habitat for Humanity of Monroe County for a Women Build in Bloomington!

The event brought women together to gain hands-on experience while supporting Habitat’s mission and highlighting the many opportunities for women in the construction industry.

🏗️ It’s official: October is Careers in Construction Month in Indiana!

The Indiana Builders Association is proud to celebrate Careers in Construction Month and recognize the skilled professionals who build Indiana’s homes, businesses and communities.

Governor Mike Braun has issued a proclamation recognizing October as Careers in Construction Month in Indiana, highlighting the importance of the construction industry and the career opportunities it provides for Hoosiers. We appreciate this recognition as our industry continues working to develop the skilled workforce Indiana needs for the future.

From carpenters and electricians to plumbers, HVAC professionals, remodelers and more, construction offers a wide range of rewarding, well-paying career paths — many with hands-on training and opportunities for advancement without requiring a traditional four-year degree.

Throughout October, IBA and our local associations will spotlight the people, programs and opportunities introducing the next generation of Hoosiers to careers in construction.
