Cumberland Youth Basketball & Cheerleading League Cumberland United Methodist Church hosts Upward Basketball and Cheer Leading. This is offered to any child in Kindergarten to 7th Grade.

We do have basketball practice tonight and basketball/cheerleading tomorrow (Tuesday) at the usual times.

This Saturday is Team Picture Day.
After introductions we will line the teams up for you to come onto the court and take as many pictures as you like,

Here are the game times for Saturday:

All Junior League teams play at 10:00
Court 1: Bulls vs Hawks
Court 2: Lakers vs Hornets

Cheer practice resumes its normal Tuesday schedule this week! No practice tonight (Monday)—instead, the squad will meet on Tuesday at 6:30 PM.

Good day, everyone!

Just a quick update for this week:

No games this Saturday. Games will resume on Saturday, February 8, and continue for the next five Saturdays, wrapping up on Saturday, March 8.

Basketball practices will be held as usual on Monday and Tuesday this week.

Cheer practice is tonight (Monday) at 6:30 PM.

🏀 Important Youth Sports Update 🏀

Good evening, everyone,

Due to poor road conditions around the church that are unlikely to improve by morning, basketball and cheerleading Jamboree for Saturday is cancelled.

We’ve rescheduled the Jamboree for next Saturday, and we’ll extend the season by adding an extra Saturday at the end of the schedule.

Monday and Tuesday practices will continue as normal.

Stay warm, stay safe, and we’ll see you soon!

Despite the snow forecast for today and this evening, we believe that we'll have our lots cleared in time for us to play at 10:00 tomorrow. (Saturday)

However, please check your email in the morning before you leave home. I will confirm our status at that time. If it does not seem safe for us to proceed we'll cancel and push our jamboree to next Saturday.

Again, I expect we'll be good to go and will email you by 9:00 tomorrow morning to let you know either way.

All of our Junior League players will play at 10:00 and our Senior League begins play at 11:30. Coach Shalonda would like the cheerleaders there at 10:00 and they will perform between the Junior and Senior sessions.

If you are not sure about your team, don't worry. We'll get everyone where they need to be tomorrow. That's one of the purposes of our jamboree day.

Please try to be in the gym 15 minutes before your playing time. The doors open at 9:30.

If you have not paid your fee, please do that as soon as is comfortable for you to do so.

I look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow.

📣 Basketball and Cheer Update

Hello, everyone!

I hope you had a wonderful holiday season! We’re excited to get back to basketball and cheerleading this week.

❄️ Due to weather and snow in the parking lot, Monday’s practice is canceled. However, we are on track for Tuesday evening basketball and cheer practices!

🏀 Jamboree – Saturday, January 11
Our Jamboree is a morning of practice games designed to give players, coaches, and families a taste of the game-day experience and help us balance the teams.

Here’s the schedule:

10:00–11:15: Junior League (Grades K–2)
Unsure of your team? No problem—just show up, and we’ll help!

11:30–1:00: Senior League (Grades 3–6)
We’ll make sure all players find their teams.

📣 Cheerleaders: Please arrive by 10:30 a.m. to prepare for a performance between sessions!

⏰ Please arrive 10–15 minutes early so we can distribute jerseys to players who don’t have one yet.

We’ll share team rosters later today or tomorrow. Thank you for your patience and enthusiasm as we kick off this exciting season!

Thank you for your patience as we organize our teams and communication. Coach Gary is hard at work updating the contact list, so stay tuned for all the latest info!

We’re taking a holiday break for the next two weeks, but don’t worry—practice resumes on Monday, January 6, and Tuesday, January 7! Get ready to hit the court and bring your best energy as we gear up for our first competition of the season!
