In partnership with the United Way of Central Indiana, volunteers came together to support VOICES in meaningful, hands-on ways—helping strengthen our spaces and the work we do every day.

VOICES youth had the opportunity to attend the Congressman André Carson Youth Opportunity Fair, where they connected with organizations, explored career paths, and learned more about opportunities available to them.

Events like this are important—they provide exposure, build confidence, and help young people start thinking about what comes next.

When people ask what the Day Reporting Program at VOICES actually does, the answer is simple: It creates sustainable outcomes for youth.

Through consistent structure, support, and accountability, young people are:

• Completing high school credits and working toward graduation.
• Re-engaging with education after setbacks.
• Preparing for and entering the workforce.
• Accessing mental wellness support and beginning the healing process.
• Building leadership skills that help them grow into active members of their community.

This work happens day by day—not overnight. And over time, those daily steps lead to something bigger: stability, independence, and a real path forward.

We often focus on helping young people succeed in school or find jobs—but there’s something even more fundamental.

Stability.

Without a safe, consistent place to live, everything else becomes harder—focusing, planning, showing up. 🏡

At VOICES, transitional housing creates that foundation through Jake’s Place, Blossom House, and Cookie’s Corner (launching later this spring).

If we want different outcomes for young people, we have to look at what actually drives change. At VOICES, that means building a framework of healing into everything we do.

Recently, Kia Wright, Executive Director, and Damita Jefferson, Chief Programs Officer, took this message out into the community, advancing national conversations on youth justice, housing, and long-term outcomes.

Because when healing is part of the framework, outcomes don’t just improve—they change.

When healing is part of the process, progress becomes possible.
