Juana is a real source of strength, comfort and kindness to our residents at the Morning Light Home. Her compassion makes a difference everyday in the lives of those we serve.

Alongside his career at General Motors, Kevin has been a lifelong Harley-Davidson enthusiast, exploring America on two wheels and making memories along the open road.

This past week, we celebrated the work anniversary of our wonderful Social Services Manager, Kate Nickelson!

Kate is one of those incredible people who makes such a difference behind the scenes at Morning Light. From helping individuals in urgent need of housing and care find their way into the Morning Light Home, to supporting our residents and their families throughout their hospice journeys, Kate brings kindness and positivity to everything she does.

And as if that weren’t enough, she regularly makes life at the Home a little sweeter with her delicious homemade cookies, as you can see! 🍪

This week’s Wish List Wednesday comes courtesy of our Director of Programming, Karen, who also celebrated a birthday this past week!

Help Karen keep the Morning Light Home stocked with the everyday essentials that make life a little more comfortable for our residents on hospice. This photo is taken in our upstairs clothes store. Sometimes individuals on hospice come to the Morning Light Home without even the most basic essentials, few pieces of clothing or possessions. We make sure we have a selection of seasonal garments on hand for our resident’s needs. And most of these are donated by kind supporters.

106 birthdays and still that smile. 💛💙🏡

Our remarkable resident Miss Ruby has reached an incredible 106 years old.

More than a century of memories, stories and life, and we feel incredibly fortunate that this chapter of Ruby’s journey is being spent surrounded by care, comfort and people who have grown to love her dearly.

At the Morning Light Home, we provide a free home and 24/7 care for individuals on hospice who are in urgent need of a safe place to live during the final chapter of life. Every resident who comes through our doors has a lifetime of stories behind them, and Ruby has more than most!

We sat down with Miss Ruby to hear a little from the woman behind those 106 extraordinary years.

We are incredibly proud and grateful to have been selected as a recipient of Meyer Najem 2026 Swing Into Giving, receiving an extraordinary $30,000 in support of our mission.

This generosity will make a very real difference at the Morning Light Home, helping us continue to provide a free home, 24/7 care, dignity and companionship for individuals on hospice who are in urgent need of a safe place to spend their final days.

We were also proud to be recognized alongside our wonderful nonprofit neighbors at Brooke's Place, whose work means so much to families throughout our community.

Our heartfelt thanks to the entire Meyer Najem team, the sponsors, golfers and everyone who made Swing Into Giving possible and especially former board member, Jordan Burger, for putting Morning Light forward for this years event. Born in 1920, Ruby has lived through more than a century of American history, from the Great Depression and World War II to the moon landing and the digital age. Spanning 19 U.S. presidents!

Today, Ruby is on hospice and has spent the last year as a much-loved resident of the Morning Light Home, the Indianapolis nonprofit which provides a free home, support and around-the-clock care for terminally ill individuals in need.

Ruby is an absolute sweetheart and a true treasure to everyone here. As we prepare to celebrate this extraordinary milestone, we wondered whether our friends in the community, local schools, classrooms, groups and organizations might again consider helping us make her birthday extra special by sending Miss Ruby a birthday card. 💌 We’d love to fill her room with birthday wishes from across our community!
