Please join us in welcoming Patrick, the newest resident of the Morning Light Home. Patrick is a true gentleman who spent many years working on communications towers, working high above the ground and in all kinds of weather to keep people connected.

When I asked Patrick what he was most proud of in life, he didn’t mention a job title, an award, or an accomplishment. Instead, he said:

“I’ve never deliberately hurt anyone. I’ve always tried to be the guy to look out for people, even when it’s been tough to do so.”

That simple answer tells you a lot about the kind of person Patrick is. A lifelong music lover. We’re also excited to be working on a special Making Memories experience centered around his passion for music.

We are grateful to have Patrick as part of the Morning Light family, and thankful for the incredible support of our community. Because of that support, Morning Light can continue providing a safe, loving home at no cost for neighbors facing some of life’s most difficult moments.

Every resident who comes through our doors has a unique story. It is our privilege to honor those stories and ensure that no one faces the end of life alone.

Another full house for Bingo at the Morning Light Home! Since becoming a resident at Morning Light, Doug has taken on the role of bingo host, leading a weekly game every Tuesday afternoon. What started as a simple activity has become a much-loved tradition, bringing residents, volunteers, staff, and friends together for laughter, friendly competition, and good company.

At Morning Light, it’s often the little moments that mean the most. A game of bingo, a shared joke, and time spent with friends can brighten an entire day for everyone.

Thank you, Doug, for helping create a space where friendship and fun continue to thrive each week.📍 Learn more about Morning Light’s mission and how you can help in different ways at: https://www.morninglightinc.org

Recently, we celebrated one year with Cassie, one of Morning Light’s caregivers. Over the past year, she has helped create the kind of home every person deserves at the end of life: a place of comfort, friendship, and genuine human connection.

Here she is with former resident Brenda, sharing one of the many moments that make Morning Light special. While caregiving often happens behind the scenes, it is these relationships that help ensure no one faces the end of life alone.

Thank you, Cassie, for a wonderful first year and for helping bring Morning Light’s mission to life each and every day.

We have exciting news! Morning Light has been selected as one of just five finalists for the 2026 Impact 100 Greater Indianapolis Change Maker Grant.

After a highly competitive review process involving more than 80 nonprofits from across Central Indiana, Morning Light was chosen as the Health & Wellness finalist.

On June 16, we will join the other finalists to present our project before Impact 100 members vote to award a transformational $100,000 grant.

For more than 20 years, Morning Light has provided a free home for people on hospice who have nowhere else to turn. We are honored that Impact 100 has recognized the importance of this work.

Today volunteers Gary Sexton and his team continued the work on a brand new chicken coop at the Morning Light Home for our beloved chickens, who offer companionship and animal therapy to residents, families, volunteers, and staff alike.

Gary first connected with Morning Light through SAWS (Servants at Work) and brought together fellow volunteers Andrew, Larry, Jim, and Kelly to help bring this project to life. Gary has spent years volunteering his time and skills building wheelchair ramps, greenhouses, and structures for nonprofits and families in need. As he put it today, he simply enjoys “using my hands and trying to figure out solutions to whatever problem exists.” And yes… he already has favorite chickens. Sunny D and Skittles apparently have a new biggest fan. 🐔💛

We are so thankful for volunteers like Gary and his team who use their talents to create spaces of comfort, dignity, and joy here at Morning Light.

Memorial Day weekend at the Morning Light Home. ❤️🇺🇸 This weekend, some of our residents enjoyed a wonderful cook-in filled with grill-cooked favorites, homemade sides, and the simple joy of spending time together.

We’re also so thankful for volunteers like Regina and her family, who spent part of their holiday celebrating alongside our residents and making special memories with special friends.

At Morning Light, honoring life also means honoring moments of togetherness like these. 🇺🇸 Together as friends we gathered to celebrate and honor the memory of those who served our country.

Morning Light is proud to share that we have been awarded Candid’s 2026 Platinum Seal of Transparency, the highest level of recognition for nonprofit openness and accountability.

The Platinum Seal recognizes organizations that go beyond basic reporting to openly share their mission, financial information, measurable impact, goals, and outcomes with the public. It reflects Morning Light’s ongoing commitment to transparency, stewardship, and ensuring that every donor, volunteer, grantmaker, and supporter can clearly see the difference their support makes.

For more than 20 years, Morning Light has provided a safe and loving home, at no cost, for individuals on hospice who are in urgent need of housing and care. Recognition like this helps strengthen trust with the community that makes this mission possible.

A special thank you to Zachary Alexander, Morning Light’s Director of Nonprofit Advancement, for his work on this award and it was also his birthday this week! 🎉

Well the sun may not be shining today, but Patricia is more than ready for summer in her beautiful new hat! ☀️

And truthfully, she’s bringing a little sunshine of her own into every room she’s in at the Morning Light Home. From afternoons on the back porch to conversations with friends and caregivers, Patricia’s warm spirit and smile make every day a little brighter.
