On Friday, our Morris Series cohort gathered for its third session, "Global Good," a topic that was a special request of our program's namesake, Jim Morris.

This session explored the many forms of philanthropy and giving, how their significance and role in society vary across cultures, and how we can engage in global good to become stronger global leaders.

🌍 We’re proud to spotlight three outstanding participants in the 2026 James T. Morris Series, representing The International Center (Indianapolis)’s cohort this year: Phil Wagner, Billy Wells, Aaron Yoder!

🏛️ Phil Wagner joined the Greater Columbus Economic Development Corporation as President in January 2026, bringing 17 years of community and economic development leadership. Holding a Master of Public Administration from the University of Kansas, Phil has spearheaded transformative public-private partnerships, historic revitalizations, and business attraction efforts that generated hundreds of millions in capital investment and created thousands of jobs.

🏦 Billy Wells is the Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Financial Center First Credit Union, leading retail banking, lending, and organizational strategy. Originally from Colombia, Billy holds an MBA from Indiana Wesleyan University and leverages his extensive corporate leadership experience to champion financial wellness, mentor emerging leaders, and advance inclusive economic opportunity across Indiana.

📈 Aaron Yoder is the Senior Manager of Workforce Strategies at Ascend Indiana, where he builds cross-sector partnerships between employers, educators, and community leaders to expand economic mobility. A Purdue University graduate in management and marketing, Aaron leads initiatives supporting student-led businesses and developing modern workforce ecosystems to strengthen communities statewide.

These emerging leaders exemplify the Morris Series’ mission to strengthen global connection and understanding across Indiana and beyond.

Get to know Global Impression Award Finalist Diana Matzinger! 🗺️

Diana Matzinger is a Colombian-born entrepreneur and nonprofit founder who is transforming workforce development opportunities for Indiana's Hispanic community through Belisimoda Academy. Built from the ground up in Indianapolis, Belisimoda operates a federally approved Registered Apprenticeship Program in cosmetology and barbering conducted entirely in Spanish, helping aspiring beauty professionals gain licensure, industry credentials, and entrepreneurship training while earning income from day one.

Through partnerships with salons and community organizations, Diana has created pathways for immigrants from across Latin America to transition from the informal economy into licensed careers and business ownership. Her work equips participants with the skills, credentials, and support needed to build long-term economic stability while contributing to Indiana's workforce.

At the heart of Belisimoda's mission is Corte Solidario, a free professional haircut service that supports individuals experiencing homelessness, migrants in crisis, survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking, and members of the LGBTQ+ community. Through this initiative, Diana and her team use beauty services as a tool for restoring confidence, dignity, and connection for people who are often underserved.

Beyond the apprenticeship program, Diana has built a broader ecosystem of support through workshops focused on self-esteem, professional development, and personal image, as well as mentorship opportunities and youth programs that introduce young people to careers in the beauty industry. Through Diana's leadership, Belisimoda is helping transform immigrants into professionals, entrepreneurs, and community leaders while strengthening Indiana's economy and communities.

🌍 We’re proud to spotlight three outstanding participants in the 2026 James T. Morris Series, representing The International Center (Indianapolis)’s cohort this year: Ramatou Soumare, Rochenide St Preux, Nick Summers!

⚖️ Ramatou Soumare is a corporate associate at Dentons, the world’s largest global law firm, focusing on corporate and transactional matters. A first-generation Guinean-American holding a Juris Doctor from the Indiana University Maurer School of Law, Ramatou combines her international legal training with a strong ethic of service, volunteering as a Natural Helper at the Immigrant Welcome Center and across local Indianapolis organizations.

🌐 Rochenide St Preux is the Founder and CEO of Akor Co., an Indianapolis-based company advancing effective multilingual and cross-cultural communication. Drawing on her lived experience as an immigrant, Rochenide is a visionary leader who builds language access infrastructure and culturally responsive systems that help schools, healthcare providers, and employers connect meaningfully with newcomer communities.

✈️ Nick Summers is an Airport Maintenance Technician Supervisor at the Indianapolis Airport Authority, overseeing a 26-person team responsible for critical airfield infrastructure, runway safety, and operations serving nearly 10 million other travelers. A Conexus Indiana Rising 30 honoree, Nick brings hands-on leadership to advancing Indiana’s logistics and transportation sector into the future.

These emerging leaders exemplify the Morris Series’ mission to strengthen global connection and understanding across Indiana and beyond.
