SENATE RESOLUTION TO HONOR HIS HOLINESS' 90th BIRTHDAY

The United States Senate has introduced a resolution commemorating the 90th birthday of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama on July 6, 2025, as "A Day of Compassion" and expressing support for the human rights and distinct religious, cultural, linguistic, and historical identity of the Tibetan people.

Please contact your senators and ask them to cosponsor and support S.Res 283, a resolution to honor His Holiness' 90th birthday on July 6, 2025. You can write to your senators here:

Tibet Network is closely monitoring the 7.1 magnitude earthquake that has damaged hundreds of houses, littering streets with rubble and killing at least 95 people and counting in Tibet. Many others were trapped as dozens of aftershocks shook the remote region.

Due to China’s strict information censorship, verifying the accuracy of reports from Chinese state media is nearly impossible. We demand that the Chinese government ensure transparency and accountability granting independent organizations unrestricted access to affected regions.

After over 70 years of occupation, Beijing’s attempt to control the reincarnation process strikes at the heart of Tibetan religious identity, including His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Reincarnation is central to Tibetan Buddhist belief and practice rooted in the concept of the cycle of birth, death, and rebirth. The attempt to control any part of Tibetan Buddhism goes completely against international law and the practice.
