‼️‼️ Personal Message from President ‼️‼️
I would like to thank all the teams that came out to Kayte’s 10u tournament this weekend and played their hearts out. It was a great weekend for baseball. Seeing the players out on the field doing what they love, is what it’s all about!
I would also like to address what happened during the tournament this weekend. I personally made a critical mistake that affected an entire team. Kayte’s 10U baseball tournament is just that, a 10 year old baseball tournament. We clearly state that we go by Little League rules. Per Little League rules, players are “league age” by what age they are as of August 31st of current year. I personally told a team’s manager that the cut off date for the age requirement was Aug 1st. That team had a player who is CURENTLY 10 YEARS OLD and doesn’t turn 11 until Aug 6. With what I told them, the player was eligible to play in our 10U tournament. We had another team request age verification for said team. After meeting with a very knowledgeable Little League representative, I was informed of the proper age cut off date. The team’s player was ineligible to play in our 10U tournament because he was “league age” 11. In return, the team had to forfeit their championship spot in the tournament. In that moment, emotions ran high and things were said. I truly wish it didn’t happen the way it did, but we are all human. As the tournament president, I tried to handle the situation to the best of my ability. The coaches and parents were asked to leave and the game continued.
I would like to personally apologize to that team and their coaches. They came and played their hearts out and because of my misinformation, they had to forfeit. There’s not enough words to express how sorry I am to them players and their coaches! I want to make it clear, this isn’t on that coach or players! This is on me! I take 100% accountability for what happened! I’m truly sorry for everyone involved! I will use this as a lesson learned and will do my best to make sure this doesn’t happen again at our tournament!
Thank you,
Holly
