For years in El Salvador, breast cancer was something many women were afraid to talk about — or simply didn’t know enough about to catch early. Today, that story is changing.

Sunday’s 10th Breast Cancer Run/Walk in San Salvador was another powerful reminder of how awareness, education and access to care are saving lives. Thousands came together in support of early detection, treatment and hope — including many whose lives have been touched personally by breast cancer.

Through partnerships supported by The People Helping People Network, tremendous strides have been made not only in treatment, but also in helping remove fear and silence surrounding the disease. Conversations are happening. Screenings are increasing. Women are being encouraged to seek care earlier. And lives are being changed because of it.

We’re grateful to everyone who continues to help make that progress possible.

Your support helps us reach out to those in need throughout the year, such as this vision program we brought to the community of Ahuachapan, where our housing partners at The The Fuller Center for Housing have built more than 140 homes, our faith partners have built a church, and our team and PHP volunteers have distributed food, medical supplies ... and a heaping helping of HOPE!

Sometimes the biggest hearts show up in the quietest moments.

Kent and Jodi Lewis didn’t go to El Salvador looking for recognition. They simply went willing to love people — and that spirit has now led them to fund a new church for the community of El Zonte through The People Helping People Network.

After three Vision Trips, they’ve fallen in love with the people of El Salvador and the life-changing work happening through the HOPE Equation.

Their story is a beautiful reminder that generosity is not about wealth — it’s about having open hands and willing hearts.

Always great to see churches putting faith into action with our housing partners, The Fuller Center for Housing, in El Salvador! The Juayua community is coming along so nicely, and a new church is rising alongside these new homes.
