Today, on National Former Prisoner of War Recognition Day, we honor the extraordinary courage and sacrifice of America’s prisoners of war. 🇺🇸

These brave men and women endured unimaginable hardships in captivity, yet their resilience, loyalty, and unbreakable spirit never wavered. These heroes remind us what it means to serve with honor — even in the face of the most difficult circumstances.

Observed on April 9, this day marks the anniversary of the start of the Bataan Death March in 1942 — when tens of thousands of American service members were forced to march over 60 brutal miles as prisoners of the Japanese army. Many did not survive, but their strength and resilience became a powerful symbol of American bravery and endurance.

To all former POWs and their families: we see you, we thank you, and we will never forget your sacrifice. You are true American heroes. 🕊️

It's FLIGHT WEEK! Flight #49 heads to Washington, DC this Saturday, April 11th! We are so excited to begin our 2026 flight season, honoring our Hoosier Heroes! Our trips are one-day adventures, we leave early in the morning and return the same day. Our Veterans have the opportunity to see the memorials built in their honor, and be thanked by hundreds of people for their service.
We need our friends, family and neighbors to come out Saturday evening to welcome these men and women home from their trip. Let them know they are remembered and appreciated for what they did for YOU. Be at Plainfield High School, 1 Red Pride Drive, at 8:30pm to fill the gym with patriotic citizens. Wear red/white/blue, wave a flag, bring a sign saying "We love our Veterans", or "Welcome Home". Bring your children so they can meet living history! You will not be sorry you took the time to honor these Veterans. See you there!
