TIRA in Action | One journey. Three areas of expertise.

International mobility rarely depends on just one type of expertise.
When a Japanese executive relocated from Japan to the U.S. East Coast, three TIRA members contributed different capabilities to the same mobility journey.

Relocation Belgium was supporting the international move on behalf of its client, whose headquarters are in Belgium. For East Coast destinations, the company works with fellow TIRA member NYC Navigator, bringing local support into the assignment.

During the relocation, HR identified an additional concern: the assignee needed more opportunities to practice English and build confidence communicating outside the workplace.

To address that need, Relocation Belgium turned to corp, which arranged on-site English language coaching with a local coach.

One assignment. Different needs. Different areas of expertise.

This case shows how independent TIRA members can complement one another across an international move: combining international coordination, local destination knowledge and specialized support as needs emerge along the assignee journey.
For clients, that means access to the right expertise at the right stage of the relocation. For members, it means being able to draw on capabilities across the network while continuing to deliver through trusted, independently owned partners.

The School Question: The Decision That Can Make—or Break—a Family Relocation

For globally mobile families, choosing a school can shape far more than the education experience. It can influence the timing of a move, where a family lives, how children adapt, and ultimately, how sustainable the relocation becomes.
In TIRA’s latest article, members share local perspectives on the realities families face when navigating different school systems. From academic calendars and curriculum continuity to admissions, availability, language and the all-important question of “fit,” the article explores why successful school selection requires more than information that can be found online.

Local knowledge matters. Mobility professionals can help families anticipate challenges, understand realistic options and make informed educational decisions that support both the child and the overall relocation experience.

September brings new routines, new milestones and plenty of proud family moments across our member network.

Some collaborations are built around a single assignment. Others are built over years.

As a founding member of TIRA, Cultural Awareness International has collaborated with members across nearly the entire network to support short- and long-term international assignments around the world.

The model is simple, but powerful: when a client need extends beyond one member’s geographic reach or service offering, another trusted TIRA member can bring the local knowledge, specialized expertise or on-the-ground support required.

Over time, those repeated collaborations create something larger than individual referrals. They give members access to a network of independently owned companies they know, communicate with and can rely on when mobility needs become more complex or extend into new markets.

Meet Our Board: Deborah

We're pleased to spotlight Deborah, a member of TIRA's Board of Directors. With firsthand experience navigating an international relocation and a passion for helping others successfully build a new life abroad, she brings both personal perspective and professional expertise to the TIRA Board.

After living abroad for many years and experiencing what it means to relocate with young children, Deborah founded Relocation Belgium. What began as a relocation business has since evolved into a one-stop shop for international talent, offering immigration, relocation, tax, and integration services.

Her own experiences have shaped a passion for helping individuals and families navigate the many aspects of building a new life in Belgium, while providing the local knowledge and support needed throughout the process.

Being part of TIRA also highlights the value of having a trusted global network. Through TIRA, she has the opportunity to connect with local experts around the world, seek advice, share knowledge, and collaborate across markets. Over the years, many of those professional relationships have also grown into genuine friendships, making the network valuable both professionally and personally.

A strong network creates value when trust moves beyond connection and into action.

TIRA members and are doing exactly that. The two independently owned companies have developed an active referral relationship, sharing business opportunities and drawing on the trust built through the .

What makes this example particularly meaningful is that it goes beyond a single assignment or one-time collaboration. It shows how relationships within TIRA can become an ongoing source of practical business value.

For clients, trusted referrals can provide access to experienced local support beyond one company’s immediate reach. For members, they can extend market reach, strengthen professional relationships and create new business opportunities while each company retains its independence, expertise and identity.
That is one of the strengths of a vetted professional network: knowing who to call, knowing who you can trust, and being confident enough to place an opportunity in another member’s hands.

Meet Our Board: William Titus

We're pleased to introduce William Titus, one of 's newest Board Members. With decades of experience in immigration and global mobility and a deep understanding of the Japanese market, William brings a wealth of expertise and international perspective to the TIRA Board.

A veteran immigration and mobility professional based in Japan for over 30 years, William has been with the RNA Group (Relo Japan’s parent company) for 19 years, including nine years as Chief Operating Officer of japan Relo Japan and a member of its Board of Directors. He concurrently serves as a “Japan Expert” for the Centuro Global network. William is also active in several committees of the ACCJ (American Chamber of Commerce in Japan) and has been involved in the planning of charitable events in the past.

More recently, William was appointed Director of Immigration Japan, a newly established immigration firm. Prior to joining Relo Japan, he worked as an adviser for the JET Programme in Kyoto.

In his spare time, William enjoys spending time with his family and his 10-year-old toy poodle. He is also an avid sports fan, an amateur sumo photographer, and a dedicated, although slightly obsessive, runner.

William's extensive experience across immigration, relocation, and international business brings valuable insight to the TIRA Board. We look forward to his contributions as we continue to strengthen our global network, foster collaboration among members, and support excellence in global mobility.
