The Christamore house provides the very best early childhood education, after school programming, senior citizen services, preventative services and employment assistance to the residents of Haughville and the near Westside of Indianapolis The Christamore House originally started as a kindergarten with neighborhood clubs on the industrial east side of Indianapolis. The organization moved to its cu

rrent location in historic Haughville in 1920. Christamore House, one of the oldest nonprofits in Indy, was founded in 1905 by two Butler College graduates, Edna Stover and Edith Surbey. Today, Christamore House serves as a pillar of strength in the community and provides the very best child and youth educational services, senior programming, and life skills training to the residents of Haughville and the Near-Westside. At the height of the Great Depression, monthly attendance was 5,900 people with only ten paid staff members. The organization has witnessed significant cultural and community changes over the years.

Nothing but friendly competition today! 🏀 Our Summer Camp Staff took on the campers in an exciting basketball showdown. While the staff came away with the win, the campers definitely gave them a run for their money! A special shoutout to our cheerleaders, who brought the energy and did an amazing job supporting the game. 📣✨

Everyone had an incredible time, and it was great seeing so much fun, teamwork, and laughter all around! 💙🏀

Yesterday was a big day for the House! 🎓✨ Our 2026 ECE class graduated, and we are so proud of our little graduates! Watching them learn, grow, and reach this milestone has been so special, and we cannot wait to see all the amazing things they do next. 💙🤍

We also celebrated the end of an amazing school year with ! 📚💛 Thank you for all of your hard work, dedication, and support in tutoring our students throughout the year. We are so proud of the growth and progress our students have made, and we truly appreciate the impact you’ve had on their learning journey.
