Spotlight on Nursing is 501(c)(3) non-profit, founded in 2002 to raise awareness of the critical issues facing the nursing profession. Currently, our primary focus is on the impending nursing shortage, estimated at 1 million by the year 2020, as well as the current nursing faculty shortage. With the demand for nursing increasing, a concerted community effort is essential to promote and support nur

sing careers.

The annual Spotlight on Nursing “For Tomorrow’s Nurses” Run Walk was created to heighten community awareness for the nursing profession. Proceeds from the event benefit undergraduate and graduate level nursing scholarships and additional scholarships for those pursuing advanced degrees, with the express purpose of increasing nursing faculty in Indiana.

Through the annual Run Walk, we have raised over $355,000 to support undergraduate and graduate students in nursing programs and graduate nursing students aspiring to become faculty.

These funds are crucial to the Spotlight On Nursing scholarship recipients. Many would not be able fulfill their dreams of becoming a nurse or leader in the education of future nurses without this support. Spotlight on Nursing is doing its part to address the future needs of the health and wellness of the citizens of Indiana, of which the role of nurses is essential.
