One Home For Health and Hope. ❤️

As the largest HIV/AIDS service organization in the state of Indiana, we provide services to more than 25% of all individuals living with HIV in the state. By making our wide variety of programs and services available in-house, we utilize a one-stop shop approach to caring for those affected by HIV and preventing its spread. We work to reduce the amount of HIV and increase the amount of healthy, immune-boosting cells in our patients’ bodies, improving the health of clients and our community.

Ciara Myst Blooms at Damien Center's Grande Masquerade! 💐

We are very excited to announce that Ciara Myst will be the opening performance for this year's Grand Masquerade!

From serving as Board President for the Indy Drag Theater, to graduating with a degree in Computer Graphics Technology, as well as Forensic Sciences from Purdue in 2015, Ciara is looking forward to sharing her talents with her hometown.

Appearing as a contestant on season 18 of RuPaul's Drag Race, Ciara Myst blends sci-fi, horror, fantasy, and magic into her drag. A prosthetic makeup artist with credits ranging from Dynasty to Marvel Studios productions, Ciara Myst crafts her own costumes and promises to bring creature transformations to life on the main stage.

A little ooky-spooky, a little ethereal, Ciara Myst is ready to haunt, mesmerize, and transform one look at a time.

A day of collaborative community health. ❤️

The Damien Center welcomed over 50 volunteers for a day of service, an annual event that helps create a stronger and healthier community.

Some of the very important tasks at hand included:

📦 Storage Unit Cleanout — organized countless boxes and items in new storage unit
🚯 Neighborhood Cleanup — gathered 25+ bags of trash and debrief, safely identified and removed several used syringes/needles in the Holy Cross Neighborhood area
🍎 Food Pantry Crew — helped unload Kroger order and stocked entire food pantry alongside food pantry staff in the Coby Palmer Food Pantry
🚚 Legacy Building Moving Crew — transported several pieces of artwork for Grande Masquerade and cleaned out clothing pantry space to prepare for demolition and renovation
💚 Connect to Cure — packed over 1,000+ separate harm reduction care packages to be distributed throughout the state of Indiana via the statewide Connect to Cure Hepatitis C program
🧶 No-Sew Blanket Build — built about 15 handmade blankets for clients in need during cold weather/winter months

Nathan Calvert, Senior Director of GMQO Genetic Medicine, talked about how important volunteering and helping the community is to Eli Lilly and it's employers. "Rallying colleagues to volunteer with the Damien Center is easy because of the passion your staff brings to every group you host and the mission of your org. I'm also grateful to work for an employer that gives us the space and time to connect with nonprofits we care so deeply about like the Damien Center. The work you do is so impactful, and we come together knowing there is always more we can all do to help our neighbors, the clients the Damien Center serves."
