On November 13, 2005 we lost a husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend. Shortly after his passing, his friends and family decided to form a team and run the Indianapolis Mini Marathon, so his widow wouldn’t run alone. Jon was not really a runner, but they ran the event together, and got engaged at the finish line in 2002. So friends and family began running and socializing, remembering the
great times they had with Jon, helping one another heal. They decided to keep running and use it to make a difference. Inspired by Jon's favorite college T-shirt they became (Jonnie's) Goodguys. Doing Good things for others, having Good times with friends, supporting the numerous Good causes that are out there… was born. Jon's doctors and family are 90% certain that his fatal aortic dissection was the result of Marfan's Syndrome, a genetic connective tissue disorder. Had Jon known he had it there would have been steps he would have taken to ensure that he'd be here today with his wife and little girl. Jonnie's Goodguys wants to spread the word and awareness of this syndrome, as well as related ailments in the Thoracic Aortic Disease umbrella. We are not limited to running. You'll see us volunteering for similar causes, cheering on drum corps, and funding drum corps scholarships. Please join us in the spirit of , and apply that for your own good causes as well.
