Our objective is to recruit a minimum of two hundred and fifty young men and women between the ages of 16-24 who have dropped out of school and/or have a history of street violence in Indianapolis. Founder and President, Brent Smith, of Realize the Gift in You, was once an at risk youth heading towards self-destruction. Through mentorships he was reinvented and is now known for being an influentia
l role mode amongst African-American males and other minority ethnical males in his community. Going to college and becoming a college graduate is a great objective, but for those who decide college may not be the direction for their lives. We at Realize the Gift in You would like to present to those individuals vocational seminars to provide these young men and women who suffer from drug abuse, disadvantage, low self-esteem, gangs, lack of education, dysfunctional homes, lack of parenting with the proper tools and resources on how to overcome the challenges that come before them and become that gift that lies within them. Our goal is to reach out to these young men and women and help them realize that there is a God given gift that lies within them. Our intention is to show these young people that they are bigger than whatever situation they are going through, that there is hope, and by using the gifts within themselves they can reinvent their lives. Our desire at Realize the Gift in You is to invite numerous vocational institutions throughout Indiana to our seminars and give these young adults on the spot opportunities to sign up for vocational training and/or a GED program if necessary and provide numerous resources to them so they can have a head start on a new beginning.
