The board of the CIBA Foundation is thrilled to celebrate Karen Bohn, a longtime CIBA Foundation board member and cycling advocate, for her recent recognition by Greenways Foundation.

Karen was awarded the Diana M. Virgil Legacy Award for her lifetime of service advancing trails across Indiana. We could not be more excited for, and proud of, Karen and her service!

"We are an Indiana foundation that promotes bicycling for all ages and abilities with an emphasis on safety." And we offer grants to organizations to do just that!

Our grant application closes on April 30. Share this link with any organization who has a cycling need we could consider filling.

The CIBA Foundation prefers to make grants to organizations that will improve bicycling using the purposes listed on our Grants page as a guideline for funding.

Boy were they busy!

Central Indiana Cycling was out and about all year, on the trails and at community and school events distributing items to make cyclists more visible. With the help of funding from CIBA Foundation, Central Indiana Cycling was able to provide:

100 rechargeable bike light sets
62 bike helmets
585 zipper and backpack reflective tags
Reflective tape and reflective dots

Since 1996 we've awarded more than $622,000 to support and promote safe cycling in Indiana. Share this with any person or group who advocates and promotes safe cycling. We'd love to consider supporting them too. DEADLINE to apply is April 30.

The impact donor dollars has keeps growing.

Here is a quick recap of what Nine13sports is doing and how they are growing its Experienced Based Learning: Nine13Sports successfully launched this program in August at the start of the new school year, and it's spearheaded by two fully licensed teachers.

As we get ready to round the corner to our 2026 grant season, we're taking some time to showcase some of our past grantees, letting our donors know their giving truly has impact. Here is some feedback from LaNisha Clark, Executive Director, Freewheelin' Community Bikes:

"Freewheelin’ is very appreciative of the continued support from the CIBA Foundation. This is especially true of our Bicycle Academy program. The academy was able to reach over 30 young people in 2025, including Exodus Refugee, Trinity Haven, and Indiana Youth Group participants. Bicycle Academy was able to launch a weekly Rotating Repair Class for adult learners, also. A total of 10 young adults went through the multi-week program and learned various advanced bicycle mechanic skills and concepts that will keep cyclists safe on our roads and pathways."

We LOVE seeing how our support helps our grant recipients! Here's one from Riley Hill-Kartel, Director of Advancement at the Indianapolis Cultural Trail: A Legacy of Gene & Marilyn Glick:

"Thank you and everyone at the CIBA Foundation for your continued investment in the Indianapolis Cultural Trail and Pacers Bikeshare.

With your 2025 grant support, we installed a new fix-it station and bike pump along the Glick Peace Walk, directly outside our offices helping to serve thousands of people who rely on the Cultural Trail for their morning bike commute each day. We were also able to purchase new helmets to accommodate our growing bike ride and tour programming that will provide enhanced safety measures for our growing community of riders. Thank you!"
