When people think of pollinators, honey bees usually come to mind. But Indiana is home to hundreds of native pollinator species, including bumble bees, solitary bees, butterflies, moths, beetles, and hummingbirds.

Each species plays a unique role in supporting healthy ecosystems and diverse plant communities. Protecting pollinators means protecting all of them—not just the ones that make honey.

Did you know that nearly 1 out of every 3 bites of food we eat depends on pollinators? Bees, butterflies, moths, beetles, birds, and even bats help plants reproduce by moving pollen from flower to flower.

Without pollinators, many fruits, vegetables, nuts, and seeds would become scarce or disappear altogether. This National Pollinator Week, join us as we celebrate the small creatures that make a big impact on our lives.
