This week, we had the opportunity to participate in conversations with Indiana’s 5th Congressional District candidates and their representatives about food insecurity and the growing needs of families in our community.

We are grateful to Bread for the World for including us in these important discussions and creating opportunities for organizations working on the front lines of hunger to share what we’re seeing firsthand.

We see every day how food insecurity affects working our neighbors. These conversations provide an opportunity to share their experiences and explore ways to strengthen access to nutritious food.

We are thrilled to be a recipient of an Indy Hunger Network Infrastructure and Capacity Grant. The installation of a walk-in freezer is a game-changer for the pantry to help us expand cold storage during this time of unprecedented need. Thank you to IHN for granting funds to make this possible and to Trinity who has been supportive every step of the way.

We weren’t expecting to serve 353 people today.

But when 353 of our neighbors needed food, we were here.

It’s the most people we’ve ever served in a single day, and the numbers keep climbing.

We need help keeping up.

More neighbors means more food, more supplies, and more hands on deck.

A sobering reminder from this week: more than half of Indiana resident households are experiencing food insecurity.

That number is difficult to sit with. But being in a room filled with people and organizations working every day to change that reality is also a powerful reminder of what can happen when a community comes together.

Thank you to Indy Hunger Network for bringing us together this week for their Annual Partner Convening. It was wonderful to reconnect with so many partners.

The need is great, but so is the network of people committed to making sure our neighbors have access to the food and resources they need. We’re grateful to be part of it.

Thank you to Indy Hunger Network for another great Pantry Coalition meeting, hosted at our neighbors at Boulevard Place Pantry!

We had the opportunity to hear from Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana Inc., Second Helpings, and Midwest Food Bank - Indianapolis Division about food sourcing options and resources available to pantries across our community.

We’re so appreciative of opportunities like these to visit other pantries and learn from one another as we all work to address food insecurity throughout Central Indiana.

When organizations come together, we can better serve our neighbors and strengthen our entire hunger-relief network. ❤️

🎉 Happy 2-Year Anniversary to our Executive Director, Kelsey! 🎉

A little over two years ago, Kelsey joined Mid-North Food Pantry as our first Executive Director, and what an incredible two years it has been!

Under her leadership, the pantry has grown tremendously. Through all that growth, Kelsey has kept our mission at the center.

We are so grateful for the passion she brings to Mid-North Food Pantry and for her commitment to our community.

Please join us in wishing Kelsey a happy 2-year anniversary!

We’re proud to be one of this year’s recipients of a Meridian Kessler Neighborhood Association (MKNA) Vi Walker Neighborhood Grant!

These grants directly support organizations doing important work in our community, and they’re made possible through proceeds from the annual Meridian-Kessler Home Tour.

Now, we’d love to return the support by helping MKNA fill their remaining volunteer openings for this year’s Home Tour, happening September 25–27.

Volunteering is a great way to support the neighborhood and each volunteer receives a FREE ticket to tour all of the featured homes!

Grab a friend, volunteer as a group, and help make an event possible that gives back to organizations like ours throughout the community.

Learn more, volunteer, or purchase Home Tour tickets at mkna.org. Historic Meridian Kessler Indy Meridian-Kessler Neighborhood

🌱 A big thank you to the Marion County Master Gardeners Association for supporting Mid-North Food Pantry’s on-site garden!

Their generous grant has helped fund much-needed repairs to our garden beds while also making it possible to offer garden education right here at the pantry. Master Gardener Marie from Helpings of Hope recently wrapped up our summer sessions by sharing gardening education directly with our shoppers.

We firmly believe our garden is about so much more than growing food. It allows us to grow items our shoppers specifically want, like fresh collard greens, while giving neighbors an opportunity to see how food can go from a tiny seed in the ground to something available on our pantry line.

And perhaps most importantly, the garden creates connection. Shoppers, volunteers, staff, and community partners all have a hand in it. The sense of community it brings to our pantry is second to none.

Thank you, Marion County Master Gardeners, for helping our garden and our community continue to grow. 🌿💚

We’re hiring! Join the Mid-North Food Pantry team.

As the number of neighbors we serve continues to grow, so does our team. We’re currently hiring for two part-time positions:

Pantry Manager | 22–25 hours/week | $22–$24/hour
A hands-on management role overseeing day-to-day pantry operations, including inventory, food ordering and logistics, volunteer coordination, our garden, and special projects.

Pantry Assistant | Approximately 15-18 hours/week | $18/hour
A hands-on role supporting daily pantry operations, including receiving and stocking food, preparing for distributions, assisting shoppers and volunteers, and keeping our pantry organized and ready to serve.

Both positions include paid time off (PTO) and offer the opportunity to be part of a small team making a big impact in our community.

If you’re dependable, organized, enjoy working with people, and want your work to directly help your neighbors, we’d love to hear from you.
