While many of us are still in bed sleeping, enjoying our first cup of coffee, getting ready to take advantage of the beautiful weather for a run or a trip to the gym, making plans with family and friends, or looking forward to a fun weekend, millions of people around the world are suffering immensely.
My beloved Venezuela is enduring unimaginable pain after being struck by two massive earthquakes just 39 seconds apart, measuring 7.2 and 7.5 in magnitude. Can you imagine the nightmare they are living through right now?
Countless buildings have collapsed, trapping people beneath the rubble. Rescue efforts are being severely hindered because Venezuela lacks the equipment and resources needed to respond to a disaster of this magnitude. After 27 years of neglect, the country's infrastructure has been left devastated, making this tragedy even more heartbreaking.
