Right to Life of Indianapolis President Passes Away at 53

Marc Tuttle, president of Right to Life of Indianapolis and one of Indiana’s most prominent pro-life advocates, died suddenly on June 2. Tuttle had served as president of Right to Life Indianapolis for 18 years, and he was widely regarded as a leading voice for the protection of unborn children throughout Central Indiana and the state.

“Marc was more than a leader to this organization,” said Tom Hirschauer, board president of Right to Life of Indianapolis. “He was a passionate advocate, a steadfast servant of life, and a dear friend to so many of us. His dedication to the cause of protecting the unborn was unwavering, and his presence will be deeply missed.”

Under Tuttle’s leadership, Right to Life of Indianapolis organized numerous rallies at the Indiana Statehouse and worked closely with state legislators on behalf of unborn children and vulnerable mothers. He was instrumental in building the annual Indiana March for Life into one of the largest pro-life gatherings in Indiana, drawing thousands of participants each year.

Tuttle was also known to many Hoosiers through “The Catholic Cave,” a program on Catholic Radio Indy that he co-hosted for five years, where he engaged audiences on topics of faith, philosophy, and culture.

His leadership was driven by his conviction that every human person is created in the image and likeness of God and possesses an inviolable dignity from conception until natural death.

Tuttle is survived by his wife, Dzintra, and their five daughters. At the time of his death, he was eagerly anticipating the birth of his first grandchild, expected later this month.

The Right to Life of Indianapolis board has asked for prayers for the Tuttle family. “Marc’s work and profound dedication to life and to the unborn will continue through Right to Life of Indianapolis, as we will carry on his tireless and diligent effort in honor of the cause and his legacy,” said Hirschauer.

Melanie Lyon, Executive Director and Co-Founder of Voices for Life, will be the featured speaker on Tuesday, June 16, at our Coffee Talks at Cabin Coffee at 6:30 pm in Avon.

Melanie has been fighting abortion since before she was born. While pregnant with Melanie, her mom would take her to pray at Dr. Ulrich Klopfer’s infamous abortion business. In 2018, Melanie received her BA in English from Indiana University and immediately took a position with Right to Life Michiana. As well working for Voices for Life, she currently serves as the Program Director for South Bend’s Sidewalk Advocates for Life Chapter, and has helped grow the local outreach to one of the largest programs in the U.S.
