Tour de SRAM USA 17 is a cross-country bike ride planned for late Spring 2017, starting from San Luis Obispo, California and finishing in Wilmington, NC. My tentative route is below, which will stop in each of SRAM’s major US offices. https://ridewithgps.com/routes/18478242

This personal challenge

will combine my biggest hobby of cycling and my Christian faith in one singular mission to mutually benefit 2 charities: World Bicycle Relief and World Vision. About WBR
World Bicycle Relief (WBR) was founded in the aftermath of the 2004 Asian Tsunami. To date, WBR has delivered over 200,000 bicycles to people who would most benefit, including teachers and health care workers, most of them residing in Africa. These bicycles empower the men and women by providing new economic and social opportunities. About World Vision
World Vision is a Christian humanitarian organization dedicated to working with children, families, and their communities worldwide to tackling the causes of poverty and injustice. One of the tools that World Vision uses is to serve as one of WBR’s implementing partners, and connect WBR’s specially designed Buffalo Bike with users on the ground to enable real change in villages in African countries such as Mozambique.

I’ve been reflecting a great deal since the conclusion of Tour de SRAM USA 2017 (my bike ride across the USA for World Bicycle Relief) and have a request.
For everyone who supported the ride and WBR- financially or otherwise- would you mind sharing your thoughts on what motivated you to contribute? Please comment below, or PM / text me if you prefer. I’d really appreciate hearing why you were led to support this ride and WBR. Thank you!!

Now that the actual TDSU17 ride is complete, I’ve had time to post a few new sponsorships to the fundraising page, including additional state sponsors and Hutchinson tires. I had zero flats with the Sector tubeless tires during 3600 miles of riding- on every type of road (and non-road) surface you can imagine.

3 miles from the finish and thunderstorms have caused a short delay.... An adventure to the end! So I'll take this moment to give thanks for an extremely generous donation that has put us at 100 bikes!! Thanks so much to all who have contributed!

I've fallen behind on acknowledging some recent donations. 75 bikes have been donated! The words of encouragement that so many of you have written help keep me mentally strong during the long hours each day on the bike. I am also horribly remiss for not giving thanks more publicly for my dear wife Alisa. This ride wouldn't be possible without her support and encouragement.

So our newest state sponsors are Alisa for Ohio, and my coworker Pam Baker and her husband Chris for Kansas. (Illinois, Nebraska, and W Virginia are still available). I'll update the fundraising page as soon as I can. Thank you!!
