What a night!✨

Last evening, Dr. Shaila Mulholland, interim executive director of Arts for Lawrence (AFL), welcomed nearly 50 guests to the opening preview of the Brian Atkinson exhibit at the Judy Byron Visual Arts Center. The room was full of energy, joy, and community. AFL board members, family, Lawrence Mayor Deb Whitfield and Judy Byron, the woman behind the gallery's name, were all there to celebrate.

One of the evening's most moving moments came from former Lawrence High School student Ashley Brown, who spoke about the lasting impact Brian had on her life. She shared how he saw her, believed in her, and inspired her to become an art teacher herself ... a reminder that great art and great teachers leave marks that last a lifetime.

The exhibit is open now through June 11. Come see it for yourself.
