A Bridge to Kenya

A Bridge to Kenya Providing opportunities for homeless youth in Kenya This project began in 1990 when our son and his grandmother went to Africa on safari.

Permanently closed.

The joy of sharing that adventure inspired us to plan a family safari. It was at the end of that encounter with nature in beautiful Kenya that caused my husband Steve, in his words, "to look on the other side of the road." In his heart, he knew that he needed to go back to explore the human side of the road. After much research and planning he returned to Kenya to volunteer in an orphange. It was

during that trip, that he learned of the plight of the "street children." The passion continues as he has made several trips back to volunteer and work with the homeless children in Mombasa. He has inspired others to become involved in projects and has formed a not-for- profit organization, A Bridge to Kenya, Inc. with a mission to provide opportunities for homeless youth in Kenya. But...that is Steve's story. As I journey to Kenya to experience these projects for the first time, I hope to be disciplined in my journaling. Thus, this blog is to share with family and friends.

Of all of the many missions in Kenya, this project has taken in and embraced many street children and loved each child unconditionally in Christian love and has worked with each individual to encourage spiritual and educational growth. Many success stories here!!

Well here it is Thursday morning and we are back in Nairobi. It was just Tuesday morning when we left the chaos of Mombasa and headed north. After some hours on the only highway between the two cities (2 lanes full of trucks) we arrived at Tsavo West. We…

I’ve been waiting patiently for this trip to Kenya for quite a long time. I’ve spent most of the last month or two waiting in Matt’s closet or sitting on his dresser, hoping I would not be forgotten on the Big Adventure. Finally, we arrived in Kenya and I…
