Ellyn McCall, CEO of H.E.A.R. Indiana, was our guest speaker. Her son Seth was born profoundly deaf and received cochlear implants when he was 8 months old. Since then, he has been amazing us all every day and is now a social, smart, funny 7th grader who wants to be a doctor.

We welcomed Marion County Sheriff, Kerry Forestal, chief Law Enforcement Officer for Marion County and “landlord” of the Marion County Jail. Now that he’s completing the end of his second term, he’s setting his sights on the Indiana State Senate, running for a district that covers northeastern Marion County and parts of Fishers.

Steve Green, Bobby Knight’s first IU basketball recruit, came and reminisced about his days playing college and high school ball and being the son of a basketball coach. Steve helped usher in the Knight era that lead to an undefeated regular season (1975) team, three national championships, eleven Big Ten championships and various well publicized episodes of “Knight turbulence” along the way.

Our own Gary Chambers' experience as a Cadet at the distinguished U.S. Military Academy at West Point epitomizes his unwavering commitment to excellence. As an institution that has shaped some of America's most iconic leaders, including Dwight D. Eisenhower, General Douglas MacArthur, and General Robert E. Lee, Ulysses S. Grant, and even Jefferson Davis, President of the Confederacy, West Point's legacy is truly remarkable. Gary's own journey, which began with a class of 819 and concluded with 583, demonstrates his unrelenting drive. His impressive 29-year military career, spanning 6 years of active duty and 23 years in the reserves, is a reflection of his tireless dedication. Meet David Sims ( yellow shirt) and Jim Anderson, two recovering gamblers who gave a very entertaining, yet very sobering account of their adventures in wagering, alcohol, drugs and occasional brushes with law enforcement.No addictions were left out. Tragically, they lost their marriages, families and just about everything else. Many thanks to Dave and Jim for sharing these very personal and tumultuous times of their lives. Art Schlicter, our scheduled speaker, couldn’t attend due to complications from Achilles heal injury.
