Our umbrella of clubs included FIRST Robotics FRC and FTC teams, Women in STEM, Cardinal Cart, and Mini Movers. About Southport Robotics
The Southport Robotics program exists to prepare students to work at jobs that do not yet exist, creating ideas and solutions for problems that have not yet been identified, using technologies that have not yet been invented. Southport Robotics works to encompass
all FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Robotics programs throughout Southport schools. The teams participate in competitions held by FIRST, a program developed in 1989 to inspire more interest in the fields of science and technology. Throughout their FIRST experience, students gain maturity, build self-confidence, learn teamwork, and gain an understanding of professionalism. Students have fun while building a network of friends and professional mentors who enrich their lives, not just while they are on the team but for a lifetime. We currently support one 7-8th grade , five high school FIRST Tech Challenge Teams, one FIRST Robotics Competition team, Team 1529. As well as, other ongoing projects like Mini-Movers, Cardinal Carts, and Women in STEM.
