Regular programs and activities in Iota Lambda include: Breakfast with the Brothers, Father's Day, Alpha Esquires of Indianapolis Youth Mentoring Program, Voter Registration, Dr. Martin Luther King Dinner, and the March for Babies. As evidenced from the first Greek letter of its name, and from its founding date of April 17, 1922, Iota Lambda is one of the early, surviving alumni chapters of our gr

Charles Harris Wesley, in The History Of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity: A Development in College Life, “the chapter was set up by Brother Fairfax of Ohio University and Brother Powell of Tau Chapter.” Charter Members of Iota Lambda were Brothers Clarence Burbridge, Averitte Corley, Sumner Furniss, George Gore, Oley A Johnson, Morris Taylor, John Walker, and Minus Woodruff. Iota Lambda was somewhat unique in that the original Chapter Charter was somewhat unique in authorizing intake of college Brothers at Bloomington, DePauw, and Purdue. Although this point is noted in the Fraternal history book, the original charter documents vanished by the latter part of the 20th century, and the Chapter surrendered this role, in part due to the establishment of nearby college chapters in the intervening years.

This past weekend, the Impactful Iota Lambda completed our first LITerary Society fundraiser of the year! This event was full of fun, fellowship, and brotherhood! Special shout out to Brother Amos Brown who was the winner of our Bingo Board Challenge.

📚Before the convention even began, the work was already in motion. Our brothers had the privilege of pouring into the next generation through our Read to Succeed program at Lew Wallace School creating space for literacy, mentorship, and meaningful connection with our youth. Special thanks to Principal Hinton for welcoming us and for your continued commitment to your scholars. Partnerships like this matter.

From there, it was all hands on deck as we prepared for registration ensuring every detail was set to create a seamless and welcoming experience for all attendees.

Shoutout to the incredible women of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. and for your support and partnership, and much love to our dedicated collegiate brothers of who showed up ready to serve and represent with excellence.

This is what it’s about service, unity, and legacy. 🥶🤙🏾
