IndyPL library board approved a $60,000.00 raise for CEO Gregory Hill. It started with a resolution to expand the CEO paygrade to $270,000.00 at the May board meeting. It was not previewed, or discussed in committee which is the normal process therefore, it needed a motion and second. Both city county council appointees made the motion and seconded. Last night the CEO raise was buried in the Personal, and Travel resolution and no one really noticed it. I read the resolution's increase was to take affect May 18, 2026, a day before the resolution was presented and a month before the raise was even voted on. Sneaky?
We need everyone to phone, email, share contact their councilor, state legislator that the library board cares more about giving CEO, Gregory Hill the largest raise in the 153 year history of IndyPL while the frontline and support staff are offered pennies, definitely not 60k or a 30% raise. The appointing bodies are the city county council, the IPS school board and the county commissioners. BTW, Dr. Murtadha, IPS appointee was the only NO vote, twice; one for the resolution and one for the pay adjustment.
