Today, we’re celebrating the dogs who bring connection, purpose, comfort, and joy into our lives.

At Veteran’s Best Friend – Indiana, we see firsthand how meaningful the bond between a person and a pet can be. Through rescue dog placement, professional training scholarships, and community partnerships, we support veterans, Gold Star Families, and active-duty service members as they build lasting relationships with their dogs.

🐾 We're proud to support Pet Friendly Services of Indiana!

One simple way you can help is by choosing a Pet Friendly License Plate. It's more than a specialty plate—it's one of the largest ongoing sources of funding for affordable spay/neuter programs across Indiana.

For every plate sold, $25 goes directly to Pet Friendly Services, with every dollar staying right here in Indiana to help families access affordable spay/neuter services and reduce the number of puppies and kittens entering shelters.

Healthy pets. Fewer homeless animals. More opportunities for rescue dogs to find loving homes—including with the active-duty service members, veterans, and Gold Star Families we proudly serve.

If you're an Indiana driver, we encourage you to consider switching to a Pet Friendly Plate and join us in supporting this important mission.

🐾 Every Great Adoption Deserves Support.

At Veteran's Best Friend – Indiana, we believe successful adoptions don't end when a dog leaves the shelter—they begin with the right support.

We're partnering with Indiana shelters and rescues to help veteran adopters succeed through:
✅ Training Scholarship Programs
✅ Companion Dog Placement Program
✅ Simple referral partnerships at no cost to your organization

By working together, we can help more rescue dogs find loving homes while supporting the veterans and Gold Star families who welcome them.

If your shelter or rescue is interested in partnering with us, we'd love to connect.

Today we had another wonderful placement! It’s been a slow year for adoptions and we’ve been working diligently to get the word out about our services! One gentleman veteran, Tom, reached out because his family adopted a small poodle, but once she came home they found she would not bond with Tom and preferred his mother Glenda. Tom applied for our scholarship program, but really what Pearl needed was time and another dog! We had Tom reapply and we found Piper to add to their family! Tom was so thankful for our mission that he made a $500 donation! Well tonight Tom met Piper and we now have another adoption to celebrate. Piper is a Morkiepoo (Yorkie, Maltese, Poodle) 4 years old and retired from a breeding program. It was love at first sight and we wish Piper and Tom many happy years together!

A Companion Can Change Everything. ❤️🐾

For many veterans, healing doesn't happen overnight.

Sometimes it begins with a rescued dog, a new routine, and an unwavering companion.

At Veteran's Best Friend – Indiana, we connect qualified veterans and Gold Star Families with rescued companion dogs while providing the training and support needed to build life-changing partnerships.

Every connection creates a new beginning—not just for the veteran, but for the rescue dog, too.

If you know a veteran who could benefit from the companionship of a rescue dog, or if you'd like to support our mission, we'd love to connect with you.
