Veteran’s Best Friend Indiana is a nonprofit organization dedicated to connecting veterans and Gold Star families with trained companion animals to support connection, purpose, and daily life. We partner with professional trainers and rescue shelters to carefully select and prepare well-behaved companion dogs based on temperament, trainability, and lifestyle fit. These dogs are not service animals

, but trained companion pets designed to build meaningful, lasting relationships. In addition to placements, we offer a scholarship-based training program to help participants train their own dogs, promoting responsible pet ownership and long-term success. Our program is available to qualified veterans and Gold Star families across Central Indiana, with plans to expand as more trainers join our team. Donor support helps cover the cost of training, supplies, and shelter fees, making these partnerships possible at no cost to participants. This is Milo! He’s looking for a soft place to lay his head! Any veteran or Gold Star Families need a handsome love bug? Milo’s owner passed away and family friends made sure he came back to VBF. He is healthy and sweet and well trained, about 5 years old and dog friendly. He’s going to need a bit of a diet to lose his chunkiness, but he will be available to adopt! Today we are honored to have received one of the most generous donations we’ve had in our 10 year existence. The Cicero Legion Riders - 10th annual Battle Ride raised over $10,500 for Veteran’s Best Friend and we are so grateful.

These men and women served our country and continued to make an enormous difference in the lives of veterans. This money will allow us to place at least 10 pets with Veterans who need them.

Please help us thank these amazing, wonderful people…not just for the financial support, but for being the type of Americans we should all strive to be…patriotic, dedicated, kind and generous

Happy Friday! We are pleased to announce the placement of our Easter Beagle…Rhythm and Blues with Tom and Phyllis!
Tom and Phyllis are unfortunate repeat clients as their first VBF dog passed from cancer last fall.

We wish them the happiest of lives together!
