We're now in Day 2 of the Semi-Finals of the 12th Quadrennial, and if you're tuning into the livestream or listening on 88.7 WICR Radio in Indianapolis, you may be curious about the men behind the mics.

Moderating every round are Ivan Chan (violinist, teacher and 1990 IVCI Bronze Medalist), and Michael Toulouse (longtime Indianapolis classical radio host, currently leading Anytime Classical on Classical Music Indy). Together, they bring listeners the perfect mix of music history and violin technique/pedagogy, leading them along the way through each round.

Beginning September 30 for the Classical Finals and Finals round, Ivan will be replaced by conductor, violinist and eminent pedagogue Joel Smirnoff.

Tune in and catch them guiding the action for each round!

🎨 Two weeks ago, we celebrated the 30 Grand Award Winners of the 2026 Juried Exhibition of Student Art (JESA) at ceremonies in New Albany, Ohio and Indianapolis, Indiana.

Selected from more than 19,000 student artists across both states, these winners represent the best in K–12 visual arts. This year marks a milestone: JESA's first-ever expansion into Ohio in its 40-year history, made possible by the Cynthia P. Matthews Family Foundation.

Grand Award-winning artwork will be on display at the International Violin Competition of Indianapolis this fall and will tour both states over the next three years.

Notecards featuring the award-winning artwork are available now at www.violin.org/jesa

Thanks to photographers Denis Ryan Kelly, Jr. (Indiana) and Kim McCoy (Ohio).
