Voter suppression by any other name is still voter suppression. This is one of the things we are fighting against.

The Senate is considering the SAVE Act, a bill that would require a passport or birth certificate just to register to vote—blocking millions of eligible Americans.
Voting shouldn’t be this hard. Black communities already face bigger hurdles to get these documents, and a passport costs at least $165—not counting time, rides, or missing work. That’s a modern-day poll tax.
It’s worse now: the State Department recently stopped many libraries from helping people submit passport applications—the one place that made it easier for folks without flexible schedules, childcare, or transportation.
This isn’t just paperwork. It’s about power. Black folks, women, low-income, and rural voters are hit hardest. Noncitizen voting is extremely rare—this bill just makes voting harder for everyday people.
Call 202‑224‑3121 and tell your senators to keep this bill dead. Our right to vote should be protected, not turned into a paperwork hurdle.
