The Young Lions Action Network would look like to share our sincerest and deepest condolences to the family of the Late Great Rev. Dr. Fitzhugh Lyons Sr., as he has passed from labor to reward. Dr. Lyons has not only served the Galilee Missionary Baptist Church family for many years but also left a remarkable imprint on the entire City of Indianapolis. Dr. Lyons fought tirelessly to ensure that Indianapolis was a just and fair city for all of its citizens.
Dr. Lyons, thank you for showing us the way. Rest well Lion. We'll see you in the morning!
"The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away. Blessed be the name of the Lord." Job 1:21
It is with a heavy heart that I inform the body of the Union District Missionary Baptist Association, Inc. of the death of Dr. Fitzhugh Lyons, Pastor Emeritus of the Galilee Missionary Baptist Church. For decades Dr. Lyons has been a spiritual and social fixture in the most pertinent of issues relative to the advancement of black culture and God’s Kingdom community and social service at large. As Moderator of Union District Missionary Baptist Association, Inc. I speak on behalf of the entirety of our body when I say that we want to thank the Galilee Missionary Baptist Church, and the Lyons family at large for allowing us to share in the fruits of his great ministry and sphere of influence. Please know that you are sincerely in our prayers. We are all indebted to the great work and loyalty Dr. Lyons has shown for well over 50 years to the city of Indianapolis. We do join in prayer and sympathy with you. We want to remind you that God has the power to heal and restore our confidence and our joy after we’ve suffered any loss. Finally, the Bible reminds us to “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. (Proverbs 3:5-6 (KJV) Family, we commend you into the hands our God.
Humbly submitted,
