Just some light reading from AI.

Numbers may not be exact… but know many many people NEVER speak up for the reasons listed below.

The Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS) found that only about 21.5% of victims reported sexual assault to the police in 2021.

Other sources estimate the figure of unreported assaults to be around 63%.

Reasons for non-reporting
There are various complex and personal reasons why victims may choose not to report sexual assault, including:

• Fear of retaliation: Victims may fear the perpetrator will retaliate against them or their loved ones.
Belief that police will not help: Some victims believe that reporting will not lead to a positive outcome or that the police will not take the report seriously.

• Self-blame and shame: Victims may blame themselves for the assault or feel ashamed of what happened, leading them to stay silent.
Personal matter: Some victims consider the assault a personal matter they wish to handle without involving law enforcement.

• Fear of re-traumatization: The legal process, including questioning by police and potential courtroom proceedings, can be emotionally draining and re-traumatizing.

• Relationship with the perpetrator: Many victims know their assailant, which can complicate the decision to report due to concerns about repercussions on relationships with the perpetrator's family or friends.
It is important to remember that every individual's experience is unique, and the decision to report is deeply personal.

See something, say something! Be aware of not “normal” behavior.

As we gear up for this last quarter of the year, JAN has big things coming!

Our goals for this quarter is to be able to buy a good printer, provide consistent counseling services for one person minimum starting in January.

In this last quarter of the year we also want to get shirts made and for people to purchase. All proceeds go right back to JAN. We are extremely excited to take this next step in raising awareness and providing resources that people may not know how to find.

With that being said we want to recognize our donors!
♦️ If you donate $20-199 you will get social media recognition.
♦️ if you donate 200-500 you will get your name on the back of our shirts and recognition on social media.
♦️ if you donate 500-1000 you will have a small advertisement on the back of the shirt and recognition on social media.
♦️ if you donate 1000+ you will have a large advertisement on the back of the shirt as well as recognition on social media.

We are so excited to see what this last quarter of the year holds!
