Indiana wants more students to immediately enter the workforce through apprenticeship and internship programs that they begin in high school through the state's INCAP initiative. Not only would students be trained for entry-level jobs, but for also continuing their education far beyond.

Indiana's construction industry needs skilled talent now — and that need is only growing as infrastructure, commercial, industrial, and residential projects continue to expand. At the same time, many experienced professionals are approaching retirement.

It's a challenge being felt across the industry: Indiana's construction sector continues to see a shrinking pool of tradespeople entering the field even as veteran workers retire, tightening the labor pool for the trades that build our communities.
