...WINTER STORM WATCH IN EFFECT FROM LATE THURSDAY NIGHT THROUGH
FRIDAY EVENING...

* WHAT...Heavy lake effect snow possible. Total snow accumulations
of greater than 8 inches possible.

* WHERE...Porter County.

* WHEN...From late Thursday night through Friday evening.

* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous
conditions could impact the morning and evening commute.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Snowfall rates in excess of 2 inches per
hour possible. Highest amounts across northern portions of
Porter County. Strong northwest winds gusting to 35 mph could
result in blowing and drifting snow, especially near the
lakeshore.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Winter Storm Watch means there is a potential for significant
snow accumulations that may impact travel. Continue to monitor
the latest forecasts.

Isolated to scattered thunderstorms will be prevalent throughout the day, however the severe risk with these storms will be low. The primary severe thunderstorm risk will be along a line this evening moving from NW to SE. Main threat will be damaging wind gusts, with isolated hail and flooding also possible. The (SPC) has us under a marginal risk (level 1 of 5) for severe weather with main threats being strong gusty winds, large hail along with lightning and heavy downpours. There is a lot of uncertainty with the placement and timing of potential thunderstorm development and could be very isolated. Stay weather aware and stay tuned for details Monday-Tuesday

* WHERE...In Indiana, Lake IN, Porter, Newton, Jasper and Benton
Counties. In Illinois, Kankakee, Iroquois, Southern Cook and
Eastern Will Counties.

* WHEN...Until 8 AM CDT this morning.

* IMPACTS...Hazardous driving conditions due to low visibility.

THURSDAY NIGHT...

An Air Quality Action Day has been forecast for Northwest Indiana
for elevated ozone levels and is in effect from midnight tonight to
midnight CDT Thursday night.

Ozone Levels are expected to be at unhealthy levels for sensitive
groups.
