Synopsis: The story concerns Frederic, who, having completed his 21st year, is released from his apprenticeship to a band of tender-hearted pirates. He meets the daughters of the incompetent Major-General Stanley, including Mabel, and the two young people fall instantly in love. Frederic learns, however, that he was born on 29 February, and so, technically, he has a birthday only once each leap year. His indenture specifies that he remain apprenticed to the pirates until his "twenty-first birthday", meaning that he must serve for another 63 years. Bound by his own sense of duty to honour his bond with the pirates, Frederic's only solace is that Mabel agrees to wait for him faithfully. The pirates' maid-of-all-work, Ruth, eventually reveals a fact that saves the day.

Celebration Day! Principal Tschiniak stopped by to congratulate Junior Sammy Keller, who WON the 2026 Indiana Repertory Theater Young Playwrights in Progress Contest for an original play called "Red Mask!" This is the second year Sammy has been recognized, workshopped with IRT, and had professional actors perform their original work! "Young Playwrights in Process (YPiP) is an online playwriting competition for Indiana students in grades 6-12. The competition was created by IRT in 2005 through the Margot L. and Robert S. Eccles Trust. YPiP encourages middle and high school students across Indiana to write, creating plays that reflect and challenge their world." Sammy will earn $1,000, four tickets to IRT shows, and a celebration on April 25th! Keep writing, Sammy!
