Yoga for Sapphic Bodies 💗

Come find some sweetness in a yoga space created for sapphic people to soften, breathe, and be held in their bodies — without explanation or performance.

Hosted in collaboration with and and sponsored by Heartland Mindfulness Collective, this offering welcomes all sapphics interested in breath and movement in community.

🗓 Thursday, March 12
⏰ 6:30–8:00 PM
📍 Cityoga (Indianapolis)
💌 By donation (suggested: $15 / $25 / $35 — all donation levels, including free, are welcome)

We’ll begin with one hour of slow, gentle, heart-opening yoga grounded in choice, accessibility, and deep respect for each body. Expect supported postures, generous use of props, and an emphasis on comfort over achievement. This practice is not about pushing or proving — it’s about resting into yourself, reconnecting with pleasure and ease, and feeling safe to take up space exactly as you are.

After practice, there will be optional time for integration and connection. You might move into a sapphic dance party, sit quietly and journal, or share gentle conversation with community. Participation is always optional — resting, observing, or leaving early are all valid choices.

Sapphic is an expansive umbrella term for the universe of q***r people who love women, including transfeminine, transmasculine, and nonbinary people.

Come as you are. Wear what feels good. Bring as much or as little of yourself as you wish to share.
This is a space for sapphic bodies, sapphic joy, and the kind of tenderness that grows when we are allowed to fully exhale together.

At Heartland Mindfulness Collective, we believe yoga is urgent social justice work — especially as fascism continues to take hold in the United States.

Embodied practices are not passive.
They build leaders who can stay present in fear, grounded in chaos, and resourced enough to serve communities with integrity.

Resistance does not look the same for all of us.
Some of us organize. Some of us teach.
Some of us tend nervous systems so communities can keep going.
Some of us create spaces where people can breathe, feel, and remember who they are.

That’s why we offer full and partial scholarships each semester for the
Cityoga School of Yoga & Health 200-Hour Teacher Training.

If you feel called to bring yoga, breath, and radical rest into communities that are carrying the heaviest load — this may be the work you’re meant for.

The moment is here.
The responsibility is shared.
And your way of showing up matters.

Khara Smith has been named a finalist for United Way of Central Indiana’s ELEVATE: Emerging Masterpieces awards, an honor that reflects the powerful, community-centered work of BU Wellness Network and the wellness spaces she helps lead.

Through BU Wellness Network, Sacred Disconnect, and The Listening Space, Khara and her teams have expanded access to wellness, healing, and advocacy across Central Indiana, creating spaces where individuals and communities can truly thrive.

Khara is quick to say she is nothing without her team. This recognition belongs to the people who show up, do the work, and share the vision every day.

Mentored and shaped by Indianapolis leaders, grassroots organizers, and training spaces like A Seat At the Table, Marion County Health Department, Hustlers Mastermind, and The Exchange at the Urban League, Khara’s leadership is rooted in community.

This recognition celebrates what happens when community invests in community.

So grateful to be an ELEVATE finalist with United Way of Central Indiana! The People’s Choice Award is community-voted ($1 = 1 vote) and open through February 21. If you’d like to support me, you can vote here: https://give.uwci.org/campaign/756822/donate
