If we’re serious about solving the housing affordability crisis, we have to zoom out.

Because affordability isn’t just about housing.

It’s about whether people have access to:

• Stable, well-paying jobs

• Skills that lead to upward mobility

• Career pathways that grow over time

Without those, even “affordable” housing becomes temporary.

That’s the disconnect we see in a lot of communities:

We focus heavily on reducing housing costs, but not enough on increasing earning power.

Real affordability happens when both sides of the equation move together.

That belief is shaping the work we’re doing at REAP Development Group—connecting housing development with workforce training and long-term economic opportunity.

We’re proud to celebrate the hard work, dedication, and growth of our recent program graduates. Several members of this cohort are already moving forward with exciting opportunities in HVAC and plumbing, taking meaningful steps toward long-term careers in the skilled trades.

Last week, our HVAC students had the incredible opportunity to visit Patrium Construction, one of our newest employer partners.

During the visit, students worked together to ask thoughtful questions, gain hands-on insight into the trade, and experience what it’s like to be part of a professional construction team.

We’re especially proud of how engaged our students were — showing curiosity, respect, and leadership. A huge thank-you to the owners and team at Patrium for welcoming our class, answering every question with patience and professionalism, and helping us prepare the next generation of skilled trades professionals.

This is what partnership looks like — education meets opportunity.

Last week, our students had the privilege of visiting , one of the few majority-owned Class A mechanical contractors in Indianapolis. They generously shared insights into the industry and really inspired our students with a vision of what’s possible. We’re looking forward to potential collaboration on mixed-use and residential developments and are grateful for their hospitality.
